Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion, though the conclusion is incomplete. The ideas are relevant, such as the convenience of digital platforms versus the economic and social benefits of physical venues. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. The essay ends abruptly mid-sentence, which prevents a full development of the conclusion and leaves the position slightly underdeveloped. To improve, ensure that all parts of the prompt are fully addressed and that the essay reaches a logical and complete conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. There is an attempt to use cohesive devices like 'To commence with', 'Moreover', and 'On the contrary'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'The Primarily, Development of a country'. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, and the abrupt ending significantly disrupts the flow and coherence of the final section. Improving the transition between sentences and ensuring a complete, well-structured conclusion would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and sophistication. There are several instances of awkward collocations and word choice errors, such as 'effortess watch' instead of 'effortlessly watch' and 'langout place' instead of 'hangout spot'. Some phrases are repetitive, and the vocabulary is generally quite basic. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise academic vocabulary and ensure that words are used in their correct collocations. Proofreading for basic spelling and word-form errors would also be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('cinemas plays'), incorrect article usage ('the theatres areas'), and sentence fragments or run-on sentences. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several sentences ending prematurely or lacking necessary commas. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence construction limits the score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent sentence structure will help improve your accuracy.
