Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the task. However, the development of ideas is limited. For instance, the argument regarding the economic impact of cinemas is vague, stating only that 'the century economy also increase' without explaining how. Similarly, the cultural argument is underdeveloped, mentioning 'traditional stories' without specific examples. While the position is clear, the supporting points lack the depth and analytical detail required for a higher band. The conclusion also contains a slight contradiction, as it attempts to summarize the benefits of cinemas while ultimately favoring online platforms, which could have been articulated more clearly.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'Because of than' and 'Because of that' are used repetitively and sometimes incorrectly to link ideas. Furthermore, the transition between sentences is occasionally abrupt, and the referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the conclusion where the reference to 'it' is ambiguous. While there is a clear overall progression, the lack of sophisticated linking words and the reliance on repetitive structures limit the flow of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range expected at higher levels. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and incorrect word choices, such as 'film houses are not exists in long time' and 'some public think'. The student relies on basic terminology like 'online websites' and 'digital tools' rather than more academic alternatives. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of variety and the presence of errors in collocation and word form prevent the response from reaching a higher band. More precise vocabulary related to the entertainment industry would improve the quality of the writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there is a high frequency of grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('Film centers has increased'), incorrect verb forms ('people can chosen'), and missing articles or prepositions. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some sentences lacking proper capitalization or containing unnecessary commas. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to distract the reader and indicate a lack of control over more complex grammatical forms. Improving accuracy in basic sentence construction is essential.
