Student answer (Band 5.0)
It is an undeniable fact that theatre and cinemas are the entertainment places for community from last decades. It is often argued by some people that in this modern age, theatres and cinemas have lost their importance because most of people prefer to watch movies, shows and entertainent related material at thier own place. Meanwhile, other school of thought still claim that for the prosperity of economy and culture of a country, they have same importace as past. This essay will explore both sides of argument before discussing a logical opinion.
On the one hand , the supporters of the idea believe that due to latest technologies, people prefer to watch all the entertainment online using their mobile phones, laptops, LCDs,and tablets rather than to go for theatres and cinemas beacuse they can save their money and time as well. For example, a survey conducted by US team, in the respect of busy schdule, about 70% of people tend to watch all activities at home beacuse of the fast era of internet. Thus this factor can clearly express the one side of argument.
While on the other hand, the advocates of the view that theatres and cinemas are very important for the economy as well as for the culture of a country beacuse people gain alot of advantages in terms of more enjoyment. For instance, an article published in daily newspaper, exhibited that the ratio of visitors at cinemas has reduced to 80% from the past.
As far as my opinion is concerned, i believe that theartres and cinemas have great value for the cultural aspects and they have equal value for the economy of a country because it leads to more fun.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the prompt. However, the development of ideas is limited. The arguments provided are somewhat superficial; for example, the second body paragraph mentions the importance of culture and economy but fails to explain how or why cinemas contribute to these areas, instead offering a contradictory statistic about declining visitor numbers. The conclusion is also brief and does not fully synthesize the points discussed. To reach a higher band, you need to provide more detailed explanations and concrete examples that directly support your claims rather than just stating them.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand' and 'While on the other hand'. However, the flow of ideas is sometimes hindered by mechanical transitions. The referencing is occasionally unclear, and some sentences feel disconnected from the main argument. For instance, the transition between the mention of economic importance and the statistic about declining visitors is abrupt and confusing. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, unified focus would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several spelling errors (e.g., 'entertainent', 'thier', 'schdule', 'theartres') and some awkward collocations like 'entertainment places for community'. While you attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary, the repetition of basic words like 'important' and 'value' limits your score. To improve, focus on using more sophisticated synonyms and ensure you are using words in their correct context. Proofreading for common spelling mistakes is also essential to avoid distracting the reader.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Issues include incorrect article usage (e.g., 'the prosperity of economy'), subject-verb agreement errors, and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'in the respect of busy schdule'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing around commas. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. You should focus on mastering basic sentence construction and reviewing common grammatical rules, such as the use of articles and prepositions, to improve your accuracy.
