Student answer (Band 5.0)

Some people say that in the digital age , theaters and cinemas are no longer important as people can watch all the entertainment they want online . Because they have a lot of facilities to enjoy all kind of movies online platforms like netflix , prime videos , etc are the best source of enjoying movies online which is also my favourite way to enjoy latest movies or seasons . But here is also those kind of people how want to visit theater and cinemas are still important both economically and culturally . Theaters and cinemas are also a big source of entertainment . Last year I went to a cinema a watch a movie which is quit very entertaining for me because when we see a movie on a big screen its also gives a beautiful vibe . I think young generation are involved in watching movies online at a huge rates as comparison to the old generations . Because of facilities , young generation have lot of options to watch movies online , but if we spin to old ages or 10 to 15 years go into past we can see that they don't have much options to watch movies , they only have one option which is theaters . Cinemas are also the latest version of theaters . Where all the villagers are enjoy watching movies and get joy from it . Now a days people are no more going to theaters or cinemas just because they have a lot of option at home . So in conclusion , modern ages are more advance as comparison to old ages

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument, but the development is limited. While you mention online platforms and the cultural/economic value of cinemas, the ideas are not fully extended. For instance, you mention 'economically and culturally' but do not explain how cinemas contribute to the economy or local culture. Your own opinion is present but lacks depth, as it is mostly focused on personal preference rather than a broader analysis. To improve, ensure each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and provides specific, well-explained reasons for your claims.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks a clear structure. It is written as one large block of text, which makes it difficult to follow the progression of ideas. There is a lack of effective paragraphing to separate the two views and your own opinion. While you use some basic cohesive devices like 'but' and 'because', the flow between sentences is often disjointed. To achieve a higher band, you must use clear paragraph breaks and a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'conversely', 'consequently') to connect your arguments logically.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

Your vocabulary is generally basic and repetitive. Phrases like 'a lot of' and 'enjoy' are used frequently. There are also some awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'spin to old ages' instead of 'looking back at the past' and 'latest version of theaters' to describe cinemas. While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is limited, and there is little attempt to use more sophisticated or academic language appropriate for an IELTS Task 2 essay.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'young generation are', 'villagers are enjoy'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are run-on or fragmented, such as 'Last year I went to a cinema a watch a movie which is quit very entertaining for me'. You rely heavily on simple sentence structures. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and then incorporate more complex structures like relative clauses or conditional sentences.
