Student answer (Band 5.5)

Through the different forms of print and digital media we come across reports that, the importance of theatre is decreased as one can watch movie online, while; some argues that theatres are important in different ways. After scrutiny of both the sides I am on the fence. Valid arguments for my stand will be mentioned in the forthcoming paragraphs.

The people who supports the former view has valid reasons the foremost one is, plenty of entertainment material availability at minimum cost. Generally speaking, currently all the movie and web series are available on OTT platforms and which have minimum charges and sometimes no charge at all. As a result, folks prefer to watch cinemas at home with their laptop or television. Apart from that, comfort is second reason why individuals tent to watch movies online. By this I mean that, streaming movie online can provide comfort in terms of time. One can watch entertainment whenever they want there is no time limitations.

On the other hand individuals who supports the second view have their own arguments. To begin with, for the survivals of cinemas it is necessary for the individuals to watch movie in theatres. The income sources will cut down if majority of people watch entertainment online. Moreover, it is required for individuals to watch movie at theatre after certain time. As a matter of fact, due to heavy work load people needs some break and sort of entertainment.

My inclination can be bolstered with the fact that, both is equally important. Generally speaking, due to the lack of time some folks can not visit theatre so for them online OTT platforms are the best, and it is required for the individuals to take a movie break after a tight schedules.

Overall, down the lane there will be less craze for cinemas and theatre in future as number of entertainment sources will there. it is recommended that, government should maintain few theatre in the city.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both views and provides a personal opinion, though the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. While you mention economic and cultural importance, the arguments lack depth and specific examples. For instance, the point about 'income sources' is mentioned but not fully explained in terms of the broader cultural impact or specific economic models. Your position is stated but remains somewhat vague throughout the essay. To improve, ensure that each body paragraph provides a clear, well-supported argument that directly links back to the prompt's requirements regarding economic and cultural significance.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'On the other hand', and 'Apart from that'. However, some transitions feel mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as 'down the lane' or 'After scrutiny of both the sides'. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the connection between sentences could be smoother to improve the overall flow. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but the concluding paragraph introduces new, slightly contradictory ideas rather than summarizing the main points effectively.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You have an adequate range of vocabulary to discuss the topic, using terms like 'OTT platforms', 'scrutiny', and 'inclination'. However, there are instances of awkward word choices and collocations, such as 'the importance of theatre is decreased' (should be 'has decreased') and 'folks' (which is too informal for an academic essay). Some phrases are repetitive, and there is a lack of more sophisticated, topic-specific vocabulary that would elevate the response. Focusing on more precise academic collocations will help improve your score in this area.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('people who supports', 'individuals who supports') and article usage. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary commas used in several places, such as after 'reports that,' and 'foremost one is,'. These errors do not significantly impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and sentence structure variety is recommended.
