Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion, although the opinion is somewhat underdeveloped in the conclusion. The ideas are relevant, such as the convenience of streaming versus the immersive experience of cinemas. However, the development of these points is occasionally repetitive. For example, the mention of 'large audience' and 'sound' in the third paragraph could have been more concisely integrated to allow for a deeper exploration of the cultural significance mentioned in the introduction. To reach a higher band, ensure the personal opinion is clearly stated in the introduction and consistently supported throughout the body paragraphs.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the one hand,' 'Moreover,' and 'To sum up,' which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are instances where referencing is unclear, such as in the final sentence of the second paragraph where 'it' refers back to a plural noun phrase. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but the flow between sentences could be improved by varying the structure of cohesive links rather than relying on standard starters.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, with some attempts at less common items like 'pivotal role,' 'conventional entertainment mediums,' and 'technological advancement.' However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'theaters and cinemas popularity decreased' (should be 'the popularity of... has decreased') and 'bavrages stall' (spelling error: 'beverage'). The phrase 'remined popular choice for views' contains both a spelling error and a word choice error ('views' instead of 'viewers'). Improving precision and proofreading for spelling would significantly enhance this score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that affect the fluency of the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('theatres and cinemas are still plays a pivotal role'), missing articles ('I-max an popular theater'), and incorrect verb forms ('can not feel at home' instead of 'cannot be felt at home'). Punctuation is mostly functional, but the sentence structure occasionally lacks the complexity required for higher bands. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage would improve the accuracy of the writing.
