Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is argued between two groups on the topic of importance of theatres and cinemas. One group believe that online plateforms of entertainments are replacing the theatres and cinemas but other oppose this statemant as these are cruicial for the economy and culture. I also agree with the later one.
Some people think that the advancement in the digital plateforms are easily replacing the activity of going outside and watching movies. It has several advantages such as, today there are many social media applications are available which give direct access to your favourite movies and dramas you want to watch. These modes of entertainments includes Youtube,Netflix and many more.
Additionally, some people also believe that other advantage of this digital world is the convience and availabilty of vintage masterpieces. For example, you can watch movies of 19's century at your own place. The primary advantage is that you do not need to spend money on buying tickets.
On the other hand, it is believed that these theatres and cinamas are still important for both ecnomic and culture. These theatres and cinames plays cruicial role in a country's econmy. For example, in India main mode of economy is their "Film industry". India makes large-scaled film and their econoy depends on it largerly.
The other important factor is the cultural factor. These theatres and cinmames are representing our culture globally. Many tourists visit our older cinamas to see the history of film making and major aspects of our culture. Most importantly, we can spend quality time with family enjoying with popcorns and soft drink in watching a big screen view of a film.
To sum up this discussion, i would say that online plateforms are important but these theatres and cinameas are more cruicial for our country and also in term of quality time spending with family.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion in the introduction. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the argument regarding the economic importance of cinemas is supported by a brief mention of the Indian film industry, but the link between 'theatres' (live performance) and 'cinemas' (film) is conflated, which weakens the argument. While the position is consistent, the supporting points lack depth and could be further extended to reach a higher band. The conclusion is brief but effectively summarizes the writer's stance.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices such as 'Additionally', 'On the other hand', and 'To sum up' are used to guide the reader. However, the use of referencing is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions between sentences feel abrupt. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but the internal flow within paragraphs could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to connect ideas more fluidly. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear, though not always sophisticated.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but there are frequent spelling errors (e.g., 'plateforms', 'statemant', 'cruicial', 'cinamas', 'ecnomic', 'econoy'). These errors are noticeable and detract from the overall quality of the writing. While the student attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'digital age' and 'vintage masterpieces', the range is limited. To improve, the student needs to focus on accuracy in spelling and attempt to incorporate more precise collocations to convey ideas with greater clarity and sophistication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'These modes of entertainments includes', 'theatres and cinames plays') and article usage. Punctuation is also inconsistent, such as the incorrect use of the apostrophe in '19's century'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to suggest a lack of control over complex structures. More attention to basic grammatical accuracy and proofreading is required to achieve a higher score.
