Student answer (Band 5.5)

Some Citizen, express their thoughts that ,digital age, theater and Cinema are no longer beneficial ,as people can watch all the entertainment they are interested online. While others disagree that theatres and Cinema still have significant in both financially and culturally .In my opinion all of these categories still have it's own important according to those who are using.

First of all , availability of Technological instruments ,such as Smart phones and Computers, gives choice to community to use social media as intertainment. For instance ,Videos,Music and sports all of these are readily available on social media which makes people to disregard theatres and cinema necessary.

However,Cinema and Theatres act as source of job opportunities to the Community.for example, others find employment in Cinemas and this helps to take care of their families. Not only that ,it creat business to the owner of the place ,since families pays money when coming to spend time while watching movies ,as we know families time matters and it provide good reputation. On the other hand , Theatres helps to keep traditional activities active and it provide foreign currency to the country due to th visiting of people from out side the country just to appreciate the environment and their activities such as dances, dressing infrastructures .

In conclusion, desipite availability of Technology in the world, still more Cinemas are essential to those who enjoys spending time with families and Theatres are there to keep traditional activities to be active so that the future generations will have access to what villagers were doing in the past.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both views and provides a personal opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the prompt. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the economic argument regarding job creation and foreign currency is mentioned but lacks specific, well-developed examples to fully support the claims. The position is clear, but the explanation of why these venues remain important in the digital age could be more nuanced. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your arguments with more detailed reasoning and concrete illustrations rather than listing points briefly.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as the awkward transition 'Not only that, it creat business'. There are also issues with punctuation and spacing, such as spaces before commas (e.g., 'First of all ,'). Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the flow between sentences is occasionally disjointed. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words and ensuring consistent paragraph structure would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'intertainment' (spelling), 'disregard theatres... necessary' (incorrect collocation), and 'visiting of people' (unnatural phrasing). You rely on basic vocabulary and struggle with more sophisticated collocations. To improve, focus on learning word families and common collocations related to technology and culture, and pay closer attention to spelling and the correct form of words (e.g., 'entertainment' instead of 'intertainment').

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but grammatical errors are frequent and sometimes impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Theatres helps', 'it creat business'), incorrect article usage, and punctuation errors (e.g., missing or misplaced commas). While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the text from reaching a higher band. You should focus on mastering subject-verb agreement, consistent verb tense usage, and correct punctuation to improve your accuracy.
