Student answer (Band 5.5)
Theatres and cinemas which are considered as a major source of entrainment are no longer working properly due to digital age. While it also plays a vital role both economically and culturally.
Firstly, Social media applications have become a threat for cinemas and theatres. As most of the people prefer to watch movies on online streaming platforms not in cinemas. Similarly shows perfomed in theatre are also available on youtube and dailymotion. It saves money and time also. As you do not have to go at any place. Just by using internet and different websites everthing is available. One more thing that should be considered that even new released movies are available right after 1 to 2 hours on different websites. Which can be download free without a single penny. So why would any one spend money when each and everything is available and also free.
On the other hand, entertainment is a billion dollar industry. Millions of people are related with this profession. Their earning and life is connected with it. Due to which it is crucial for the economy of the country where entertaiment industry is huge like Hollywood & Bollywood. In Hollywood some movies like Avatar, Avengers & Game of throne series they have generated a billion dollars revenue for the makers and country. Because there public prefer to watch such big budget movies in IMAX cinemas which are already few in the world. It is the choice of the people whether they go to cinema or watch it using pirated website link.
No doubt online streaming platforms are effecting the theatre and cinema industry by providing all stuff at homw with single click. But watching movies or drama sitting in cinema or theatre is worth while. It has it's own experience which can not be achieved by sitting at home.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion, though the development is somewhat uneven. The first body paragraph focuses heavily on the convenience of digital media, while the second touches on economic impacts. However, the discussion of the 'cultural' importance mentioned in the prompt is largely neglected. The position is clear, but the arguments could be more deeply explored with more specific examples beyond just naming films. The conclusion is brief and lacks a strong summary of the main points, which limits the overall development of the response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'As' and 'So' to start sentences. Referencing is occasionally unclear, for example, 'Due to which it is crucial' lacks a clear antecedent. While the paragraphing is sufficient, the transition between ideas could be smoother to improve the flow of the argument. Overall, the essay is coherent, but the cohesive devices are not used with the flexibility required for a higher band.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several instances of awkward word choices or incorrect collocations, such as 'entrainment' (instead of entertainment), 'perfomed' (spelling error), 'effecting' (should be 'affecting'), and 'all stuff' (too informal). The range of vocabulary is limited, relying on basic terms like 'good', 'big', and 'important'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'cinematic experience', 'revenue streams', or 'digital transformation', and ensure accurate spelling and word formation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('shows perfomed... are'), sentence fragments ('Which can be download free...'), and incorrect punctuation. For instance, 'It has it's own experience' contains a common error with the possessive 'its'. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on sentence construction and proofreading for basic grammatical slips would significantly improve the quality of your writing.
