Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding the economic importance of cinemas is mentioned but lacks specific detail or clear explanation. The points made about Netflix and Amazon Prime are relevant, but the explanation of why these platforms might be considered inferior to the cinema experience is slightly underdeveloped. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your examples with more depth and ensure that your reasoning is fully articulated rather than just stated.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices like 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion' to signal shifts in the argument. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly inaccurate, such as the use of 'Although' at the start of a sentence in the introduction, which is a fragment. Additionally, the flow between sentences is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing, making the progression of ideas feel a bit disjointed in places.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but there are frequent errors in word choice and collocation that occasionally impede clarity. For example, you use 'digitalization' when you mean 'the digital age', and 'roll' instead of 'role'. Phrases like 'original movie sequences are deducted' are unclear and do not convey the intended meaning. You attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary, but the lack of precision in word choice prevents a higher score. Focusing on learning common collocations and checking word forms will significantly improve your lexical range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('people does not conclude', 'technology play'), incorrect verb forms ('technology is become'), and punctuation errors. These errors are noticeable and sometimes make the reader work harder to understand your point. While you attempt complex sentences, they are often faulty. To improve, you should focus on basic grammatical accuracy, particularly with verb tenses and subject-verb agreement, before attempting more complex structures.
