Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the argument regarding the economic and cultural importance of cinemas is underdeveloped, relying on vague phrases like 'it boosts government funds' without specific explanation. While the position is clear, the supporting points lack depth and analytical rigor. The conclusion is also quite abrupt and does not effectively synthesize the arguments presented. To reach a higher band, you should aim to expand your points with more detailed examples or logical reasoning rather than simply stating them.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is hindered by repetitive phrasing and a lack of sophisticated cohesive devices. While you use basic transition words like 'on the one hand' and 'moreover', the flow between sentences is often mechanical. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the paragraphing is inconsistent, with some sentences appearing disconnected from the main argument. The use of punctuation is also problematic, with erratic spacing and missing commas, which disrupts the reader's ability to follow the argument smoothly. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring consistent paragraph structure would significantly enhance the coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. You rely on basic terms like 'funny shows', 'stuff', and 'important'. There are also several spelling errors, such as 'treditonaly', 'economicaly', 'boig', 'counducive', and 'loger', which occasionally distract the reader. While you attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary, the lack of variety and the frequency of spelling mistakes limit the score. To improve, focus on learning synonyms for common words and pay closer attention to the spelling of academic vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'theaters and cinema are...'), missing articles, and incorrect word forms (e.g., 'it is imp for cultural and economicall'). Punctuation is also a major weakness, with many sentences lacking proper capitalization and spacing. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence construction prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for basic errors and practicing complex sentence structures would be beneficial.
