Student answer (Band 5.5)

These days, mostly, people prefer to watch movies & shows on online platforms in the comfert of their home. In contrast, there are some individuals who argue that watching a film in cinema or theatre is a astonishing experience, In this essay, I will discuss both views.

Online platforms are producing quality content so the audience have to watch it online in the specific apps. The movies are exclusive and not available on other than its orignal platform. An other reason of popularity of streaming websites is that, the comfort of watching films in your bed without the expense of traveling to the theatre and save money and time.

Also, there is option for choice available on such platform l, If you are sad, there are alot of comedy movies ready to uplift your mode just a click away. Apparently, that's why public prefer to watch movies online now a days.

On the other hand, cinema & theatre are the place for social gathering and economic value. Theatres provide jobs to the actors who perform there and subsequently, little businesses which are related to the cinema industry also

thrives like - fast food stalls, taxi and restuarats near to the area as people want to eat after watchig a movie. Economicly, cinemas and theatres are still valuable to this day.

In my opinion, online platforms are the future of film industry because going to cinema to watch a movie is time consuming and also need alot of effort. Therefore, it is easy to watch in home with you preferable genre. However, cinema has its own charm but the craze will decline with time as people want convience & comfort.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The essay addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the economic argument regarding the cinema industry is mentioned but lacks specific examples or deeper analysis to fully support the claim. The points regarding online platforms are relevant, but the explanation of why they are 'exclusive' is slightly underdeveloped. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your arguments with more detailed reasoning or concrete examples, ensuring that the economic and cultural impact of cinemas is explored with greater depth rather than just listing associated businesses.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is a basic attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'In contrast', 'Also', and 'On the other hand'. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and some transitions are slightly awkward, such as the abrupt shift in the second paragraph. Additionally, the use of punctuation is inconsistent, particularly with comma splices (e.g., '...astonishing experience, In this essay...'). Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words would help the ideas progress more smoothly throughout the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the message to be conveyed clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'streaming websites' and 'social gathering'. However, there are several spelling errors ('comfert', 'orignal', 'Economicly', 'convience') and some word choice inaccuracies, such as 'uplift your mode' instead of 'uplift your mood'. The range of vocabulary is somewhat limited and lacks the precision or sophistication required for higher bands. Focusing on accurate spelling and learning collocations related to the film industry would significantly improve your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('the audience have to', 'little businesses... thrives') and article misuse. Punctuation is also a recurring issue, with several run-on sentences and comma splices that disrupt the flow. While you attempt complex structures, they are often marred by these errors. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like subject-verb agreement and punctuation before attempting more complex grammatical forms.
