Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is an undeniable fact that theatres and cinema plays paramount role in person's life as an entertainment in today's contemporary epoch. some individuals believe that in this digital age theatres and cinemas are no longer paramount as people have access of it from home, while other believes that theatres and cinemas are important for both economically and culturally.
To commence with the some people view, they think that theatres and cinemas are no longer profitable as they are easily available from home. To elaborate this, the people gets advanced with the technology, as it offers wide range of free access to new movies and and the shows. For instance, in today's time the people have so many website like Castle, Telegram, Netflix and many more which offers free shows or movies. plethora of people gets the spoiler of the movies through the Instagram reels. As a result, people ignore theatres and cinemas for watching movie and other shows and they prefer to watch it on mobile phones and laptops.
On the other hand some other people believes that the theatres and cinemas are still important both economically and culturally in pragmatic way. the first thing is that some movie producers have copyright claims through which the other platforms are gets imposed through hefty amount in court as they do not have the rights to display the movie. Moreover, plethora of people want to experience movies in a big screen so that audience will definitely come to watch it and it also profits the cinemas much more, as some of the people prefer to buy foods and drinks in the theatres, which helps economically.
The inexorable discussion on this subject matter can keep on going but observing the finer nuance, i would like to espouse my notion that both the views are appropriate and the free access of movie is possible until the producers don't impose heavy penalty as an copyright and if penalty get imposed then theatres starts to benefit.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. The argument regarding the economic importance of theatres is slightly confused, focusing heavily on copyright law rather than the broader economic impact of the industry. The personal opinion in the conclusion is a bit vague, suggesting that the relevance of theatres depends solely on copyright enforcement, which misses the cultural and social dimensions mentioned in the prompt. To reach a higher band, you should provide more nuanced arguments regarding the cultural significance of shared experiences and the economic role of the film industry beyond legal disputes.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To commence with', 'On the other hand', and 'Moreover', though some transitions feel a bit mechanical. Referencing is generally clear, but there are instances where the flow is interrupted by awkward phrasing, such as the transition into the final paragraph. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different viewpoints, which helps the reader follow the structure of the argument. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of cohesive devices to link sentences more naturally rather than relying on standard opening phrases.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, including some ambitious attempts like 'paramount', 'contemporary epoch', 'inexorable', and 'espouse'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'access of it', 'people gets advanced', and 'other platforms are gets imposed'. These errors occasionally make the text feel unnatural. While you attempt to use less common vocabulary, the lack of precision in these choices prevents a higher score. Focus on learning the correct collocations for the words you use to ensure they sound natural in an academic context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('theatres and cinema plays', 'people gets', 'other platforms are gets imposed') and article usage. Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some run-on sentences and missing commas that affect readability. While the meaning is rarely obscured, the frequency of these errors indicates a lack of control over complex structures. To improve, prioritize accuracy in basic subject-verb agreement and ensure that complex sentences are constructed with correct auxiliary verbs and tense consistency.
