Student answer (Band 5.5)
People often argue about theaters and cinema are no longer important as all the entertainment facilities are online. On the other hand other group argue that theaters and cinemas are crucial in both ways including economically and culturally.
Both groups have their own valid reasons to argue. Older people often miss their youth and they want to live those memories again in theaters as at that time there no internet and no TVs. Also they believe its really crucial to remember the art of acting, music and the laughter. They believe that real art was in older times when people remember the old authentic stories. In addition they believe cinemas and theaters will bring people close to each other.
At recent times youth have no interest in going cinemas or theaters. They prefer to watch their favorite shows in privacy. In addition youth have no interest in old tales and stories. They prefer to stay at home and watch everything online without spending money. They don't like to go outside instead they want to spend their free time in growing and grooming.
In my opinion cinemas and theaters are important in recent times as well because they provide the chance to live closely to each other and make some real memorial outside the AI and robotic world. They gave us the chance to meet each other and spend some quality time together.
Overall cinemas and theaters show how the entertainment has grown over the times so they are culturally important.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the argument regarding the youth is repetitive, focusing mainly on their preference for privacy without exploring the economic or cultural impacts mentioned in the prompt. The points about older generations are also somewhat anecdotal and lack depth. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific examples or logical explanations for why these venues remain economically or culturally significant, rather than relying on generalisations about age groups.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is quite mechanical and repetitive. Phrases like 'In addition' and 'They believe' are used frequently, which makes the flow feel somewhat stilted. Furthermore, the transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs could be smoother. The logical progression is present, but the connections between sentences are often simplistic, lacking the sophisticated linking required for higher bands.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision needed for a higher score. You rely on basic terms like 'important', 'good', and 'things'. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'live closely to each other' and 'growing and grooming', which do not convey the intended meaning clearly. To improve, you should aim to use more precise academic vocabulary and idiomatic expressions related to the topic of entertainment and culture.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Examples include 'theaters and cinema are no longer important' (missing 'that'), 'at that time there no internet' (missing verb), and 'At recent times' (incorrect preposition). While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar and sentence construction prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. You should focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles and prepositions.
