Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The essay addresses both views and provides a personal opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the prompt. However, the development of ideas is often superficial. For instance, the argument regarding the 'fan population' and 'financial stability' for actors is vague and lacks clear logical connection to the importance of cinemas. The conclusion is also somewhat repetitive and lacks a nuanced summary of the points discussed. To improve, you should focus on providing more specific, well-reasoned examples rather than general statements. The position is clear, but the supporting arguments need more depth to reach a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'the most compiling reason' and 'in addition it save time' are used awkwardly, and the transition between sentences is sometimes abrupt. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the use of 'this' without a clear antecedent. While there is an overall progression, the lack of sophisticated linking words and the repetitive sentence structure hinder the flow of the argument. Improving the variety of transition signals would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are several instances of word-choice errors and non-standard collocations, such as 'fan population' instead of 'fan base', 'verity of shows' instead of 'variety', and 'pic one favorite show' instead of 'select'. The repetition of basic words like 'important', 'people', and 'movies' limits the lexical variety. To improve, you should work on learning topic-specific collocations and synonyms to avoid repetitive phrasing and to express your ideas with greater accuracy and sophistication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and attempts at complex sentences are frequently marred by grammatical errors. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'theaters and cinemas is important', 'smartphone and internet not provide'), article usage, and tense consistency. Punctuation is also problematic, with several run-on sentences and missing commas. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors is high, which prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would be a great starting point for improvement.
