Student answer (Band 5.5)
In today's digital age, many people believe that theatres and cinemas have become less important because a wide range of entertainment is readily available online. However, others argue that these venues continue to play a significant role in society by contributing to the economy and preserving cultural values. This essay will discuss both viewpoints before presenting my own opinion.
On one hand, in the this digital age we can watch online anything anytime on the internet totally free in my opinion , netflix is the best example for this we can watch movies online sitting at home we dont have to go to cinemas or theatres which is very easy for everyone without putting any efforts but it also make you lazy and cut you from the outside world.
On the other hand, going to cinemas play an important in the economically and culturally for example the money we paying for the tickets will definitely escalate the economy of the country while the theatres play an important in the promoting of the culture where they can show the traditions, customs, language, heritage of the country. People will know your culture globally all around the world.
In conclusion, both have different kind of perspectives but in my opinion theatres and cinemas are more enjoyable with your friends sitting in the cinema rather than watching online and also it helps to increase the country economy and shows the world about the culture and history of country which give an identity of your country globally.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The essay addresses both viewpoints and provides a clear personal opinion in the conclusion. However, the development of ideas is limited. The arguments regarding the economic and cultural impact of cinemas are somewhat superficial and repetitive. For instance, the claim that ticket sales 'escalate the economy' is vague and lacks supporting evidence or depth. While the task is addressed, the ideas are not fully extended or supported with sophisticated reasoning, which is required for higher bands. The response is balanced, but the lack of depth in the body paragraphs prevents it from reaching a higher score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'On one hand' and 'On the other hand' are used correctly, but the internal flow within paragraphs is disjointed. For example, the transition between the mention of Netflix and the negative impact of laziness is abrupt. Additionally, the referencing is sometimes unclear, and the lack of varied linking words makes the progression of ideas feel somewhat simplistic and repetitive.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision expected at higher levels. There is a reliance on basic, repetitive language such as 'important', 'good', and 'things'. Some collocations are awkward, such as 'escalate the economy' (which should be 'boost the economy') and 'in the promoting of the culture'. While the meaning is generally clear, there is little evidence of less common lexical items or idiomatic expressions. To improve, you should focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and improving your control over word forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Issues include missing articles ('in the this digital age'), incorrect verb forms ('going to cinemas play'), and run-on sentences that lack proper punctuation. The sentence structure is often repetitive, and there is a lack of control over complex grammatical forms. While the errors do not completely obscure the meaning, they are frequent enough to suggest a lack of grammatical flexibility and accuracy, keeping the score in the lower range.
