Student answer (Band 5.5)

In today's rapidly growing era, technology has become so advanced that people prefer to do each an every task online with the help of internet. A lot of people often believe that due to this digitalization cinemas are no longer necessary as any individual can watch movies or shows online using their personal digital tools while some oppose that theaters still holds important aspect in society. The argument supporting both the perspective and my opinion will be discussed further in the essay.

In todays digital era, lot of individual often believe that movie theater and cinema are no longer necessary any person can watch all the entertainment online. This is because people today are a lot busier than in past, the hectic work schedule and long tiering days don't allow a person to visit theater for entertaining activities. After busy working days an individual usually prefer to enjoy entertainment by staying in their comfort zone as a result of which they choose to watch all the movies and show on digital platforms at their home. Moreover, watching movies in theater or cinema may lead to unnecessary spending. People often choose watching movies on digital platforms because cinema and theater are expensive it involves various expenses which are almost null when these entertainment is experienced online. To illustrate, watching movies in cinema includes cost of travelling, tickets and snacks required to much in the theater. while entertainment activities online is not expensive

On the flip hand, few critics argue that theaters are still important both culturally and economically, as it supports businesses such as restaurants, cafes, and parking facilities near theatres, it also generate revenue ticket sale, foods, beverage and advertisement. Secondly, it preserve and promote local art, language, and traditions through stage performances. People cannot share social experience and views on the stage performances held in the theaters. To exemplify, many small cities have stage comedy shows, traditional art exhibitions, cultural dramas, etc. these activities allow individual to learn different culture tradition and language.

To conclude, people think movie theaters are no longer required as they can watch everything online this is because an individual don't prefer going to cinemas as they lead to over expenditure and it can be time consuming and tiering. However, i firmly believe cinemas and theater are over online platform of entertainment as they help and individual to stay rooted to their customs and traditions. Moreover, it also helps local businesses to generate revenue through various means.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the convenience of digital platforms versus the cultural and economic benefits of physical venues. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat uneven. For instance, the economic argument is mentioned but could be more deeply explored with more specific examples. The position is clear throughout, though the conclusion could be more effectively linked to the main body arguments to ensure a more cohesive final stance. Overall, the response meets the requirements of the task well.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Moreover', 'To illustrate', and 'On the flip hand', though some transitions feel slightly mechanical or unnatural (e.g., 'On the flip hand' should be 'On the other hand'). Referencing is generally clear, but there are instances where the flow between sentences is slightly disjointed due to repetitive sentence structures. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different viewpoints, which helps the reader follow the progression of the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'digitalization', 'revenue', and 'stage performances'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'long tiering days' (likely meaning 'tiring') and 'required to much in the theater' (likely meaning 'munch'). These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of the writing. A wider range of sophisticated vocabulary would be needed to reach a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'theaters still holds', 'an individual don't prefer') and article usage. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some run-on sentences and missing commas. While the writer attempts complex structures, these are often where the errors are most noticeable. The majority of sentences contain minor errors, which prevents the writing from reaching a higher band, though these errors rarely cause confusion for the reader.
