Student answer (Band 6.5)
As technological advancement is increasing in many parts of the world. A certain number of individuals believes that theatres and cinemas are not significant in the digital age because people can use their digital devices to access any type of entertainment they want. While certain critics argue that these forms of entertainment play a vital role in both economics and cultural aspect of the society. Although both perspectives have their merits, I will discuss both views and give my perspective why I believe that theatres and cinemas are important in boosting the economy of a country and uniting a group of people.
On the one hand, some people say that theatres and cinemas are less important in digital age because people entertainment can be access easily through electronic devices. As technology is improving everyday, electronic devices such as smartphones, computers etc. allow individuals to access the type of shows they want online. These devices serve as a catalyst in alleviate stress and promote work-life balance in people. As a result, citizens will no longer go to cinemas or attend shows because they are accessible with just a single click online. For instance, an America artist may have a show in Europe and Africa fan might watch the entire show in a more flexible way online without attending the shows.
On the other hand, Theatres and cinemas are significant in boosting the economy of a country and promoting the culture of a society as other critics argued. Entertainment industry are very much significant in the development of a country because they create a sense of humor and allow people to visit their country, which will add to the economy of the country. Through by hosting shows, the country might generate income which will be added in the country GDP. Further, the use of theatres is a pervasive issue in many country because artists, and other entertainers used this platforms to not only showcase their talent but also promoting the culture of their country. For instance, the Uganda ghetto kids are promoting the culture of their country through the costumes they wear in most of their tours in Europe. Therefore, many tourist get attracted and visit Uganda to know more about their country.
In my opinion, I firmly agree with the latter as theatres and cinemas contribute greatly in promoting the culture and traditions of a country and also play a vital role in the economy of the country.
Conclusively, Although the digital age makes life easier for entertainment fandoms by allowing them to watch any show of their life online without going to the cinemas or attending any theatres shows, boosting the economy and promoting the culture of a certain country is undeniable in attending theatres shows and watching movies in the cinemas. Therefore theatres shows and cinemas are significant in the society.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the economic impact of tourism and the convenience of digital media. However, the development of these ideas is sometimes uneven. For instance, the explanation of how digital devices act as a 'catalyst in alleviate stress' is slightly vague and could be more explicitly linked to the decline of cinema attendance. The position is consistent throughout, but the supporting arguments would benefit from more precise examples rather than general statements about 'an America artist' or 'many country'.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'Therefore', which help guide the reader. However, there is some mechanical use of these devices, and occasionally, the transition between sentences feels slightly abrupt. Referencing is generally clear, though some sentences, such as 'Through by hosting shows', contain awkward phrasing that disrupts the flow. Overall, the progression of ideas is logical, and the paragraphing is appropriate for the task.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common items like 'catalyst', 'pervasive', and 'fandoms', though some are used with slight inaccuracy or awkward collocation (e.g., 'entertainment fandoms', 'pervasive issue in many country'). Spelling is mostly accurate, but there are minor errors in word choice, such as 'in alleviate' instead of 'in alleviating' and 'entertainment industry are' instead of 'is'. The range is sufficient to convey the intended meaning without significant difficulty.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the writer attempts complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('A certain number of individuals believes', 'Entertainment industry are') and preposition usage ('Through by hosting'). Punctuation is generally functional, though there are some sentence fragments, such as the opening sentence: 'As technological advancement is increasing in many parts of the world.' These errors are noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding the main points of the argument.
