Student answer (Band 5.0)
n today's digital age, many people believe that theatres and cinemas have become less important because a wide range of entertainment is readily available online. However, others argue that these venues continue to play a significant role in society by contributing to the economy and preserving cultural values. This essay will discuss both viewpoints before presenting my own opinion.
On one hand, in this digital age we can watch online anything anytime on the internet free . In my opinion Netflix is the best example for this; we can watch movies online sitting at home, we dont have to go to cinemas or theatres, which is very easy for everyone without putting any efforts but it also makes you lazy and cut you from the outside world.
On the other hand, going to cinemas plays an important role in the economically and culturally, for example the money we pay for the tickets will definitely boost the economy of the country while the theatres plays an important in the promoting of the culture where they can show the traditions, customs, language, heritage of the country. People will know your culture globally all around the world.
In conclusion, both have different perspectives but in my opinion theatres and cinemas are more enjoyable with your friends sitting in the cinema rather than watching online and also it helps to increase the country economy and shows the world about the culture and history of country which give an identity of your country globally

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both viewpoints and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is limited. The arguments regarding economic and cultural benefits are somewhat repetitive and lack specific, well-supported examples. Furthermore, the response falls just short of the 250-word minimum requirement, which impacts the overall depth of the discussion. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with more detailed explanations or concrete examples, such as mentioning specific types of cultural events or local economic impacts, rather than relying on general statements. The position is clear, but the supporting arguments need more substance to be fully developed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for each viewpoint, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On one hand,' 'On the other hand,' and 'In conclusion,' which help guide the reader. However, the flow within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical, and the transition between ideas could be smoother. The use of referencing is occasionally imprecise, and some sentences feel disjointed. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence logically follows the previous one will help improve the overall coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You use basic terms like 'important,' 'good,' and 'easy' repeatedly. There are some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'theatres plays an important in the promoting of the culture' (should be 'play an important role in promoting culture'). While you attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary, it is often used in a repetitive or slightly unnatural way. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and a wider range of academic vocabulary to express your ideas more effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('theatres plays'), missing articles, and awkward phrasing ('without putting any efforts'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to distract the reader. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring subject-verb agreement, and proofreading for common errors like missing prepositions or incorrect verb forms.
