Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays many people believe that theatres and cinemas are no longer important as all the entertainment material is present online while others still advocate for the economic and cultural value of these places. I am of the opinion that digital world has although occupied these places, still they are important in certain ways.
As the individuals are mostly busy with their daily life routines, they don't have much time to visit these places. So they prefer to watch everything online and also according to their own interest. Also with the higher fuel prices, it has become difficult for them to travel far places and watch movies in cinemas and theatres. In this regard, in order to save money, people mostly rely on online materials. For instance, in Pakistan, mostly locals cannot afford to go to these entertainment points.
In contrast, cinemas and theatres still retain their importance both economically and culturally. Visiting such places, people tend to spend more entertaining time with their family and friends espacially on the festivals and special occassions. Cinemas and theatres also serve for the economy of a nation. In some countries, a huge financial revennue is created in terms of selling the tickets of these areas. As a point in case is that in India cinemas and theatres are the major sources of their economy and they generate a huge income from movies and funny-shows.
In conclusion, I advocate for the point that people are mostly relying on digital tools to watch all the entertainment, however they still recognize their importance both in economic and cultural point of view.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the convenience of online streaming versus the cultural and economic benefits of physical venues. However, the development is somewhat limited. For instance, the economic argument regarding India is a good start but could be expanded with more depth to reach a higher band. The position is consistent, but the conclusion is a bit repetitive rather than synthesizing the arguments effectively. Overall, the response is well-focused on the task requirements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'In contrast', 'For instance', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. The referencing is generally clear, though the connection between the economic argument and the cultural aspect in the third paragraph could be more tightly integrated. Overall, the structure is coherent and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to express ideas clearly. There is an attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'financial revenue' and 'digital tools'. However, there are some spelling errors ('espacially', 'occassions', 'revennue') and minor collocation issues, such as 'funny-shows' and 'far places'. The range is sufficient to convey meaning but lacks the sophistication and precision required for higher bands. To improve, the student should focus on more precise academic collocations and ensure accuracy in spelling.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical slips, such as 'digital world has although occupied these places' (awkward word order) and 'As a point in case is that' (incorrect phrasing). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor errors in sentence construction. The student demonstrates a reasonable control of grammar, but the frequency of errors prevents the response from reaching a higher band. More attention to sentence variety and grammatical precision is recommended.
