Student answer (Band 5.5)

In digital era, many people watches movies through online platforms and few people should be available to watch movies in theatres and cinemas. This essay discussed the both views of how much important of online media and cinemas and theatres.

On the one hand, Online media was very reliable and efficient to watch movies or TV shows. People can watch all kind of entertainment, whenever they want to watch and shutdown too. In my opinions, this is good for personal interest. However, online media may caused the country economic and cannot represented their cultural beliefs. For instances, If you watch a movies "Spider man: A Brand New Day" online, It may affects the movies producers and decline their production company.

On the other hand, theatres and cinemas are more important both economically and culturally. Cinemas helps to generates the huge amount of money whole over the world through movies rights. Furthermore, Theatres will promotes their culture and produced a quality cultural beliefs. For instances, As I mentioned earlier, "Spider man: A brand New Day" movies reflects their US Culture and people relationship among each others.

"Spider man: A Brand New Day" collected the huge amount of capital from the entire country. In addition, that's boost their economic dramatically and continued their film production.

In conclusion, Online platforms has many piracy and low quality of movies to watch. Likewise, theatres and cinemas may produce huge amount of quality movies and money. In my point of views, Cinemas and theatres are still important to promotes cultures and boost their economic.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The essay addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion in the conclusion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the argument regarding economic impact is mentioned in both body paragraphs but lacks depth or specific evidence beyond the mention of a single film. The response covers all parts of the prompt, but the reasoning is often simplistic, and the connection between online media and cultural decline is not fully explored. To reach a higher band, you should aim to provide more nuanced explanations and ensure that your examples directly support your claims rather than just stating them.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression from the introduction to the conclusion. You use some cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'Furthermore', and 'In conclusion', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'shutdown too' or 'As I mentioned earlier'. Additionally, the referencing is sometimes unclear, and the flow between sentences within paragraphs could be smoother. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a strong, unified focus would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms like 'good', 'huge amount', and 'important'. There are also some issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'people watches' (subject-verb agreement error) and 'produced a quality cultural beliefs'. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of sophisticated or less common vocabulary limits the score. To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary and focus on correct collocations to express your ideas more naturally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('many people watches', 'Cinemas helps'), article usage ('a movies'), and tense inconsistency ('online media was very reliable'). While you attempt to use complex sentences, they are often marred by these errors. To improve, you should focus on mastering basic grammatical rules, particularly subject-verb agreement and pluralization, and proofread your work to catch these persistent slips. Increasing the variety of error-free complex structures will also help raise your score.
