Student answer (Band 5.5)
A certain segment of people assert that the online entertainments are more important than the physical places such as theatres and cinemas, while another group of individuals argue that the theatres and cinemas are still significant. This essay will discuss both point of views with my idea of physical entertainments should have been in the present world.
On the one hand, when people busy with their work lives, they do not have much time for spend on leisure activities such as watching movies in theatres. The major reason for this is that time management became a devil for workers' lives, because they need to focus on their future career life as well as personal life. For instance, new generation do not show interest in cinemas, when comparing with the old generation. As a result, in contemporary world online entertainments become more important.
On the other hand, if the public discriminates the outdoor entertainments, it may lead to losing jobs. This is because, when the audience decreased significantly in theatres and cinemas, the income earned form these public places will become bankrupted. For example, not only film industry but also the attached industries in same area such as cafeterias, and parking areas may vanish. As a result, this can affect to the county's economy which was stabled during the past era where the cinema got a significant place.
To encapsulate, according to my perspective I think that the outdoor places which can experienced entertainments such as theatres and cinemas should be prioritize in the present society, because it may lead to unemployment of workers. Hence, the people should think twice before neglecting cinemas rather than accepting the online films.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding the 'new generation' not showing interest in cinemas is a broad generalization that lacks specific evidence or depth. Similarly, the economic argument is relevant but could be strengthened with more concrete examples beyond cafeterias and parking. While the position is clear throughout, the supporting points are somewhat repetitive and lack the nuance required for a higher band. The essay covers all parts of the prompt, but the depth of analysis remains at a functional level.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central topic. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand,' 'On the other hand,' and 'To encapsulate' are used to guide the reader. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel forced. For example, the link between 'time management' and the 'new generation' in the second paragraph is slightly disjointed. Referencing is generally clear, but the logical progression within paragraphs could be smoother to ensure that each idea builds effectively upon the previous one.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'contemporary world' and 'encapsulate,' but there are also instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'income earned form these public places will become bankrupted' and 'stabled during the past era.' These errors do not impede communication, but they highlight a need for more precise control over word forms and collocations to reach a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb forms and prepositions, such as 'when people busy with their work lives' (missing verb) and 'can experienced entertainments' (incorrect passive voice). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but some sentences are slightly clunky due to these grammatical slips. The range of structures is sufficient to convey the argument, but the frequency of errors prevents a higher score, as the control over complex structures is not yet consistent.
