Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, some individuals believes that cinemas and theatres are no longer important because everybody can watch all the entertainment online. On the other hand, others think that cinemas and theatres are still important both culturally and economically. In this essay, I will discuss both views give my opinion.
In recent years, some people arguing that cinemas and theatres are not important because public can watch all the movies and programs online. They can watch movies with flexibility, Moreover, they can also take a break if they want. But in cinemas you have to watch the whole movie without taking a break and sometimes it makes you feel uncomfortable. Furthermore you cannot attend phone calls inside the cinema and outside food is also not allowed in cinemas. Therefore some people strongly believes that cinemas and theatres are no longer important.
On the other side, some individuals thinks that theatres and cinemas are still important because sometime you wants to watch a movie on a large screen with your friends and family. Moreover cinemas generates a great revenue that is important for the growth of a country, Furthermore, a lot of people are doing job in cinemas and running their circle. If the cinemas will be closed then the ratio of unemployment will increase and it is not good for our country.
To be honest, In my opinion cinemas and theatres are no longer important because everybody can watch movies and dramas online on their mobile phones or laptops. Therefore, cinemas and theatres are just a waste of both time and money.
In conclusion, half of the population believes that cinemas and theatres are no longer important while others thinks that they are still important. In my opinion they are no longer important.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. The arguments regarding the convenience of online streaming are repetitive, and the economic points in the second body paragraph are underdeveloped. While the position is consistent, the reasoning lacks depth and specific examples, relying on general statements. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with more detailed explanations or concrete examples, such as the impact of streaming services on local cinema attendance or specific cultural benefits of shared viewing experiences.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices like 'On the other hand', 'Furthermore', and 'Therefore'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive, and there are instances where transitions between sentences feel abrupt. For example, the transition between the discussion of cinema rules and the conclusion of that paragraph is slightly disjointed. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would enhance the flow and coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'revenue', 'unemployment', and 'flexibility'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there is a tendency to repeat basic words like 'important' and 'cinemas'. There are also minor issues with word choice, such as 'running their circle' (which is not a standard idiomatic expression for earning a living). To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated synonyms and collocations related to the topic of entertainment and economics.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'some individuals believes', 'some people arguing', 'cinemas generates', 'some individuals thinks'). These errors are persistent throughout the text. While the meaning is generally clear, these mistakes demonstrate a lack of control over basic grammatical rules. To achieve a higher score, you need to focus on proofreading your work to ensure that verbs agree with their subjects and that tense usage is consistent throughout the essay.
