Student answer (Band 5.5)

Some people think that in today's digital era theaters and cinemas do not hold any importance as online entertainment is more available, while others argue that cinemas and theaters are still important in economic an cultural aspects. In the light of this statement i am with the later viewpoint.

on the one hand , it is believed by a significant number of people that cinemas and theaters are not important anymore as viewers can watch entertainment content online. There are few reasons why this statement is even considered . Firstly , at present time a huge variety of content is available on interenet that is easy accessible by the people. As it is more cheaper and convinient viewers consider it more . The content is available all the time that viewers can watch any time unlike the cinemas. For example , in many countries now many movies and web series are launched on online media platforms such as netflix in india as it saves the time of the audience .They do not need to go outside they can just it at home while relaxing .

On the other hand , cinemas and theaters play a vital role economically and culturally, as movie halls require a crew it provide employment which in turn contributes to the economy .

theaters also supports cultural as various theater programmes are held . Through theaters , young talent find a way to there career . cinemas also provide better atmosphere and large screen as some people consider watching movies outdoor as they get a social experience which is not easy to get in indoor.

In conclusion , while few believes that cinemas and theaters are just a waste of time and money ,and do not consider it any important 'others suggest the significant importance of cinemas . I am with the later viewpoint , even though the digital era has begin still theaters and cinemas are equally important as it contributes to the economy by providing jobs and promotes the culture.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both sides of the argument and clearly states a position in the introduction and conclusion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the economic argument is mentioned, it lacks depth and specific examples. The cultural argument is also brief. To reach a higher band, you should provide more detailed explanations and concrete examples for each point. For instance, instead of just mentioning 'employment', you could explain how cinemas support local businesses or the tourism industry. The conclusion is a bit repetitive, restating the prompt rather than synthesizing the main points effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the argument. You use some cohesive devices like 'on the one hand', 'on the other hand', and 'firstly', but these are sometimes used mechanically. There are also issues with punctuation and sentence structure that occasionally disrupt the flow, such as the lack of spaces after commas and inconsistent capitalization. The transition between ideas could be smoother; for example, the jump from economic benefits to cultural benefits within the same paragraph feels a bit abrupt. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'digital era', 'economic and cultural aspects', and 'online media platforms'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'more cheaper' (which is grammatically incorrect), 'easy accessible' (should be 'easily accessible'), and 'the later viewpoint' (should be 'the latter'). There are also some spelling errors like 'interenet' and 'convinient'. To improve, focus on using collocations correctly and expanding your range of academic vocabulary to express your ideas with more precision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there is a high frequency of grammatical errors. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'few believes'), incorrect comparative forms ('more cheaper'), and missing articles. Punctuation is also a significant area for improvement; there are many instances where spaces are missing after commas or periods, and capitalization is inconsistent (e.g., 'i', 'india', 'netflix'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to lower the score. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for punctuation would significantly improve your accuracy.
