Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, technology is developing rapidly. Technology helps in a plethora of ways in each individuals life. In education, healthcare, entertainment, shopping, learning and many more activities, societies may be influence from digital era. Some people believe that due to increased in technology the demand for theaters and cinemas will be reduced whereas, some argues that cinemas are valuable for represent culture. This essay discuss both the views and give my opinion.

On the one hand, in the technological era, some entertainment platforms have a limited price and provides various type of facilities for individuals. In one online platform, people can watch several types of movie in their home, which gives them an unlimited drama. Furthermore, sometimes movie ticket has a high price and that is the reason many can not afford it. For example, in the Netflix, it is global level online streaming platform, which can serve a wide range of movies, shows and web series just only around 350 INR weekly. As a result, some people are unwilling to spend 350 INR on a single movie ticket. They prefer to buy subscription.

On the other hand, due to increased in a digital environment, cinemas and theaters value become less. In theater, the experience of sound, visual, large screen, atmosphere, enjoyment all things are amazing. Some movies present their culture, history and tradition which can grab other individuals attention. For example, if people watch movies in online platform then, some movies do not come in online platforms. Therefore, unique and beautiful movies doesn't gain popularity and generate sufficient revenue.

I believe that, movie theaters are still important for country's growth and present legacy in the globally through the movies. For some series or shows online platform is best as it is affordable and convenient.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion in the conclusion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the first body paragraph provides a clear economic argument regarding the cost-effectiveness of streaming, the second paragraph is repetitive and lacks depth regarding the cultural significance of cinemas. The argument that some movies 'do not come in online platforms' is a weak point that could have been better supported with examples of cinematic experiences or blockbuster spectacles. Overall, the response covers all parts of the prompt, but the ideas could be more thoroughly extended to reach a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'Furthermore', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the sudden shift in the third paragraph where the argument about the 'digital environment' seems to contradict the previous point. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but the flow between sentences could be improved to create a more natural progression of ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their meaning clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'plethora' and 'unwilling', but there are also instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'due to increased in technology' and 'present legacy in the globally'. These errors do not impede communication, but they demonstrate a lack of precision. To improve, the student should focus on collocations and ensuring that words are used in their correct grammatical form.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, such as 'societies may be influence' (should be 'influenced'), 'some argues' (should be 'some argue'), and 'movie ticket has a high price' (should be 'movie tickets have high prices'). These errors are noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding the main points. The student needs to pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles and pluralization to improve accuracy.
