Student answer (Band 6.0)
A significant number of people believe that the cinemas and theatres are no longer great sources of entertainment as they have access to a large number of online streaming platforms to entertain themselves. In contrast, others believe that they promote our culture and contribute to the economy.
Those who support the first view believe that the digital media platforms make the entertainment Cheap, flexible and more entertaining. Therefore public do not need to pay a large amount of money or fixed schedule for enjoyment. In Addition individuals have cheap subscriptions of digital media, which allow them to watch and enjoy along family with dramas, movies and series that take months to release in the cinemas. For example, Netlfix is a digital platform which has largest audience, because it entertain the people with the latest movies, dramas and whatever they tend to watch in cheap along a feature of sharing it with numerous individuals with single subscription.
On the other hand those who support the second view believe that cinemas and theatres play a vital role in the development of economy and culture. This is because a large number of people earn their living from them and create a number of jobs for individuals, which directly contribute to economy growth as well as they provide the opportunity to promote our traditions, lifestyle and encourage people to adopt their culture by performing physically in front of audience. For instance, Government of pakistan conduct Cultural festivals and seminars in cinemas and theatres to promote culture and install multiple stalls of foods for selling. As a result, people got a chance to learn more about their traditions and taste different foods.
Having considered both views I am convinced that digital media engaged us more in entertainment Instead of theatres and cinemas. This is because people do not have to much time to physically attend some entertainment programs, while they have online a large number of entertaining platforms in a relatively cheap price with a wide range of programs.
In conclusion, both views raise valid points, however I believe that we should adopt digital media for entertainment because it offers flexibility of time and place as well as access to several entertaining shows without any restrictions.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the economic impact of cinemas and the flexibility of streaming services. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the economic argument could be strengthened by mentioning specific industries like film production or tourism. The position is consistent throughout the essay, although the conclusion repeats the body paragraph's reasoning rather than synthesizing it. Overall, the response meets the requirements of the task well, but could benefit from more depth in the supporting arguments to reach a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'In contrast', 'On the other hand', and 'Having considered both views', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'This is because'. Referencing is generally clear, but there are instances where the flow between sentences could be smoother. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow, though the connection between the economic argument and the cultural example in the second body paragraph could be more tightly integrated.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their meaning clearly. There is an attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'digital media platforms', 'subscriptions', and 'economic growth'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are occasional errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'entertain the people with the latest movies... in cheap' and 'engaged us more in entertainment'. Some phrasing is slightly unnatural, which prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Improving the precision of word choice and using more sophisticated collocations would enhance the quality of the writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the writer attempts complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the cinemas', 'the economy'), prepositions, and subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Government of pakistan conduct'). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but there are minor errors that occasionally interrupt the flow. The majority of the sentences are understandable, and the errors do not impede communication, but the lack of consistent control over complex structures keeps the score in the 6.0 range. More attention to basic grammar rules and sentence variety would be beneficial.
