Student answer (Band 6.0)
Undeniably, the use of online platforms for entertainment purposes is now sky rocketing in the digital age. Some people believe that theatres and cinema are no longer important. While, others argue that it still has importance both economical and cultural. However, I think that cinema and theatre are still required for entertainment and also important for enjoying with friends and family.
On the one hand, cinemas and theatres still play an important role for people who are keen on watching the movies on bigger screen ratio and higher resolutions. For instance, watching any movie in 3D or 4K resolution. Additionally, people can enjoy watching movies with their friends and family, they can enjoy their leisure time by going out for a movie and can also spend time when they arrive at cinemas or theatres. Moreover, people who are content creator or lover of any specific movie series can watch the movie before of its release on any OTT platforms in cinemas by booking the tickets of first show on that same day of release.
On the other hand, people also prefer to watch entertainment shows at home on any online platform or any application. For the reason that, it becomes a cost-effective way watching any series or a movie. For instance, a person can enjoy watching movies of different genres by paying the amount of one ticket. Furthermore, it is a safer option for watching entertainment at home as the road accidents are becoming more often and it is dangerous for person who often travels to cinema.
To summarize, I believe the cinemas or theatres are still very important for watching movies with friends or family on a big screen in higher resolution and make memories with them. Though it sometimes becomes costly, it gives the more entertainment and early access to a movie.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both the decline of physical venues and their ongoing importance. A clear position is established in the introduction and maintained throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the points regarding the 'big screen' experience and 'cost-effectiveness' are relevant, the argument about road accidents as a reason to avoid cinemas is a bit weak and lacks logical depth. To reach a higher band, the essay would benefit from more sophisticated economic or cultural arguments, such as the role of cinemas in local community building or the film industry's revenue models, rather than focusing primarily on personal convenience.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'Furthermore' are used to guide the reader through the arguments. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the flow between sentences is slightly disjointed, such as the transition between the benefits of 3D movies and the mention of content creators. Paragraphing is used appropriately, and the central topic of each paragraph is clear, which helps maintain a coherent overall structure.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'sky rocketing' and 'content creator', though some collocations are slightly unnatural, such as 'bigger screen ratio' or 'before of its release'. The range is sufficient to convey the intended meaning, but it lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. Improving the variety of academic vocabulary and ensuring more accurate word choices would significantly enhance the quality of the writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the cinemas', 'a person'), prepositions ('before of its release'), and subject-verb agreement ('it still has importance'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some awkward phrasings that interrupt the flow. The complexity of the structures is limited, and the errors, while not impeding communication, are frequent enough to prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy would be beneficial.
