Student answer (Band 6.5)
Opinions are divided on whether many individuals believe that theatre and cinemas are less important than online platforms as they can easily access entertainment shows. While some people believe that theatres and cinemas are significantly important for both economic and cultural value, Although, digital platforms are affordable, more convenient , I firmly agree with the latter perspective because theatres and cinemas are still important for modern society.
On the one hand, proponents of online entertainment argue that theatres and cinemas are no longer essential. This is primarily because streaming platforms allow people to watch a wide range of entertainment shows including movie, reality shows and documentary while relaxing at home. Furthermore, it is more affordable and convenient as it saves time for travelling as well. For instance, A person can easily access newly launched movie using streaming services while relaxing at home. Therefore, inexpensiveness and easy to access nature discourages people to visit traditional venues.
On the other hand, I side with those who believe that multiples and amphitheatre are significantly essential both economically and culturally. The main reason for my view is that from economic perspective it provides job to actor, producers, security guard, and makeup artist too. Along with that it supports the small businesses such as restaurant, cafes, transportation. Moreover, from cultural side, movie houses and playhouses allows people to shared cultural and social experience together. For example, Group of friend and family visit cinema to watch newly released movie together which is impossible to watch at home together on a big screen. Similarly, theatres give audience a live experience and cultural tradition in person.
In conclusion, despite the arguments that online platforms are more convenient and affordable I believe that theatre and cinemas are both essential for modern society as it shared economic and cultural value. Therefore, these traditional venues are more important, despite of digital development.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the economic impact on jobs and the social nature of cinema-going. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat basic. For instance, the economic argument lists professions but does not fully explain the broader economic significance. The introduction is slightly cluttered with redundant phrasing, such as 'Opinions are divided on whether many individuals believe that...', which impacts the clarity of the initial position. Overall, the response is well-structured and meets the requirements of the task, though it would benefit from more sophisticated elaboration of the points provided.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. Cohesive devices are used throughout, such as 'On the one hand', 'Furthermore', and 'In conclusion', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or misused, such as the 'Although' in the introduction, which creates a fragment rather than a complex sentence. Referencing is generally clear, though some sentences feel a bit repetitive in structure. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different viewpoints, contributing to a coherent flow of ideas throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task, covering topics like 'streaming platforms', 'economic perspective', and 'cultural tradition'. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'amphitheatre' (though this is arguably an inaccurate term for a modern cinema) and 'multiples'. Some word choices are slightly imprecise, such as 'inexpensiveness' instead of 'affordability' and 'shared economic and cultural value' instead of 'contribute to'. While there are occasional errors in collocation, they do not impede communication, and the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the intended meaning clearly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'movie, reality shows and documentary' (missing articles and pluralization), 'provides job to actor' (should be plural), and 'despite of' (incorrect preposition usage). Punctuation is generally functional, though there are some spacing issues around commas. While the student attempts complex sentences, the accuracy is inconsistent. The errors present do not significantly impede understanding, but they do indicate a need for more careful proofreading and a better grasp of subject-verb agreement and article usage.
