Student answer (Band 6.0)
TECHNOLOGICAL ADVANCEMENTS HAVE TRANSFORMED PEOPLE'S WAY OF ACCESSING ENTERTAINMENT BY INTRODUCING VARIOUS DIGITAL PALTFORMS. AS A RESULT, THERE IS A DEBATE WEATHER THEATERS AND CINEMAS ARE THAT MUCH BENEFICIAL FOR ECONOMIC AND CULTURAL REASONS OR WEATHER THEY ARE NO LONGER THAT MUCH ESSENTIAL AS THEY ONCE WERE BECAUSE PEOPLE CAN STREAM ALL CONTENT ONLINE. THIS ESSAY WILL EXAMINE BOTH VIEWS BEFORE PRESENTING MY OWN OPINION.
ON THE ONE HAND, THERE ARE MULTIPLE BENEFITS OF CINEMAS AND THEATRES BOTH ECONOMICALLY AND CULTURALLY. FIRST AND FORMOST THAT IT GENERATES VARIOUS EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES RANGING FROM TICKETING STAFF TO STAGE ANCHORS. FURTHERMORE, IT BRINGS MORE MONEY BY BOOSTING SURROUNDED BUSINESSES SUCH AS RESTAURANTS, PARKING FACILITIES AND MANY MORE. MOREOVER, WATCHING LIVE PLAYS, BLOCKBUSTER MOVIES ON BIG SCREEN MAY GIVE UNIQUE EXPERIENCE WHICH CAN NOT GET BY WATCHING IT ON SITING IN A ROOM. SOME LIVE CULTURAL ACTIVITIES FOSTER A VALUABLE BOND AMONG THE COMMUNITIES.
ON THE OTHER HAND, STREAMING CONTENT ON THE ONLINE PLATFORMS IS ALSO BENEFICIAL BECAUSE IT IS QUITE COST EFFECTIVE AND EASILY ACCESSIBLE. MOST OF THE CONTENT CAN BE WATCHED ON DIGITAL PLATFORMS, BY SPENDING A LITTLE AMOUNT OF MONEY, REGARDLESS OF SPENDING ON TRANSPORTATION COST FOR WATCHING IN THEATER. ADDITIONALLY, IT IS VERY CONVENIENT TO WATCH CONTENT FROM ANYLOCATION, AT ANYTIME WITHOUT STICKING TO A STRICT TIMETABLE OF SHOWS. FOR INSTANCE, MANY PROFESSIONALS DO NOT HAVE TIME TO GO TO THE CINEMA AFTER A LONG WORKING HOURS, AS A RESULT THEY PURCHASE SUBSCRIPTION OF MULTIPLE ONLINE STREAMING PLATFORMS AND WATCH CONTENT ON TV AT HOME OR ON MOBILE PHONE WHILE COMMUTING.
IN MY OPINION, THERE ARE ENORMOUS ADVANTAGES OF WATCHING CONTENT ON DIGITAL PLATFORMS, SUCH AS IT IS CONVENIENT, COST EFFECTIVE, AND ACCESSIBLE AT ANYTIME, WHILE CINEMAS AND THEATERS WILL NOT BE CLOSED BECAUSE THEY HOLD SOME VALUABLE INSIGHTS WHICH HELPS A NATION BOTH ECONOMICALLY AND CULTURALLY.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The essay addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the economic impact of cinemas and the convenience of streaming. However, the development is somewhat superficial. For instance, the economic argument mentions 'surrounded businesses' but lacks specific examples or deeper analysis of how these contribute to the economy. The conclusion is a bit repetitive and could have been used to synthesize the arguments more effectively. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is fully extended with concrete examples or logical consequences.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two viewpoints. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'Furthermore', and 'Additionally' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing, such as 'which can not get by watching it on siting in a room', where the connection to the previous clause is unclear. Overall, the progression of ideas is easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task, covering topics like 'technological advancements', 'employment opportunities', and 'subscription'. However, there are several spelling errors ('PALTFORMS', 'WEATHER' instead of 'WHETHER', 'FORMOST') and awkward collocations like 'surrounded businesses' (should be 'surrounding businesses') and 'siting in a room'. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey meaning, the errors and lack of more sophisticated, precise academic vocabulary limit the score. Improving accuracy and using more varied, topic-specific collocations would enhance this score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'there is a debate weather' (spelling/usage), 'watching live plays... may give unique experience which can not get' (missing subject/article), and 'regardless of spending on transportation cost' (awkward phrasing). Punctuation is generally functional, but the sentence structure occasionally feels clunky. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct article usage, and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed with grammatical precision.
