Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the prompt. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention economic and cultural benefits, these points are not fully extended or supported with specific examples. The conclusion is a bit repetitive and lacks a strong summary of your position. To reach a higher band, ensure that each body paragraph provides a clear, well-supported argument rather than just listing general points. For instance, when discussing economic impact, you could mention job creation or tourism revenue to add depth.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'On the other hand', 'Moreover', and 'In addition'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly repetitive. Additionally, there are issues with punctuation, specifically missing spaces after commas (e.g., 'applications. On', 'Initially,it', 'contrary, the'), which disrupts the flow of the text. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring correct spacing would significantly enhance the readability and coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for a higher band. You rely on fairly simple terms like 'amusing content', 'modern age', and 'big display screen'. While these are accurate, they do not demonstrate a sophisticated command of language. There are also some minor collocation issues, such as 'economical stability' (should be 'economic stability'). To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to the film industry, such as 'cinematic experience', 'digital streaming platforms', or 'cultural significance'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'theatres and the theatres plays', 'Some people likes', 'some wants') and article usage. Punctuation errors, such as missing spaces after punctuation marks, are consistent throughout the text. These errors do not prevent understanding, but they do indicate a need for more careful proofreading and a better grasp of basic grammatical rules to achieve a higher score.
