Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The essay fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you attempt to address both views and provide an opinion, the response is incomplete, ending abruptly in the conclusion. The arguments presented, such as the benefits of big screens or the negative effects of mobile addiction, are under-developed and lack sufficient supporting evidence or logical depth. To improve, you must ensure all parts of the prompt are fully addressed and that the essay reaches the required length to allow for a comprehensive discussion of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay uses basic cohesive devices like 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand' to structure the response. However, the logical flow is frequently interrupted by grammatical errors and awkward phrasing, making some sentences difficult to follow. Paragraphing is attempted, but the final paragraph is incomplete, which disrupts the overall structure. The progression of ideas is limited by the brevity of the text. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph contains a clear topic sentence followed by well-connected supporting points.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally basic and repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'entertainment', 'people', and 'movies'. There are several instances of incorrect word choice and collocation, such as 'resent era' (recent era), 'short templar' (short-tempered), and 'habit effect on' (habit affects). These errors occasionally impede the reader's understanding. To achieve a higher band score, you should aim to use more precise vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'cinematic experience', 'digital consumption', or 'socio-economic impact', and pay closer attention to word forms and collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that affect clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('theatres and cinemas is', 'online entertainment has provide'), incorrect verb forms ('Entertainment is reduce', 'individual is watch'), and missing articles. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the existing sentences are often simple or contain errors that hinder fluency. To improve, you should practice basic sentence construction, specifically focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of tenses. Reviewing the rules for articles and pluralization will also help reduce the frequency of errors.
