Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the task. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the economic argument regarding theatres is mentioned but not fully explored with specific examples or deeper analysis. The conclusion is also quite brief and lacks a summary of the main points. To reach a higher band, you should aim to expand on your supporting points with more detailed explanations or concrete examples, ensuring that your position is clearly maintained throughout the entire essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices like 'To commence with', 'Secondly', and 'On the other hand'. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'In this I will shed a light on both argument'. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'ubiquitous', 'pivotal', and 'renowned'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'cinemas and theatres considerably replaced these apps' (which conveys the opposite of your intended meaning) and 'beneficials for local' (which should be 'beneficial for the local community'). To improve, focus on using words in their correct context and expanding your range of academic collocations to express your ideas with more precision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'OTT apps are become ubiquitous' (should be 'have become'), 'there plenty of content' (should be 'there is plenty of content'), and 'connected to there roots' (should be 'their'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. To achieve a higher score, you need to focus on subject-verb agreement, correct verb tenses, and ensuring that your complex sentences are constructed accurately without errors that distract the reader.
