Student answer (Band 5.5)
In this digital age , some people says theatres and cinemas are no longer are the source of entertainment because they think it can be watched online without going out . A lot of people still thinks theatres and cinemas are still important because of their culture and economically . In my opinion , movie halls are more vital because they do not over charge you and new upcoming movies can be booked with good view and pixels . Those people who think dramas and movie halls are not worthy because they can watch the same thing online on the internet . According to my opinion , the same drama and movie can not be uploaded on the internet . Some peoples who watch in cinemas can record and upload that has low quality pixels and there are also a lot of missing data from the drama and movies . This type of thing can only give us spoiler from the binge watching that was not even entertainment any more. People who respect cinemas and theatres are the worthy people for their culture and values and respect the whole thing . People can book tickets and watch the new launch drama without any spoiler . It is entertaining in many ways and can take our family and friends to spend quality time with them . Movie halls can also allow us to eat food during movies . According to my opinion, i suggest people to watch movies and dramas in theatres and cinemas for a very good pixels and comfortable area to watch without any internet issues and spoiler alerts.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the prompt. However, the development of ideas is limited and somewhat repetitive. For instance, the argument regarding 'pixels' and 'spoiler alerts' is narrow and lacks depth regarding the broader economic or cultural significance mentioned in the prompt. The points about eating food and spending time with family are relevant but remain underdeveloped. To improve, you should focus on expanding your arguments with more sophisticated reasoning, such as the role of cinemas in local economies or the unique cultural experience of shared viewing, rather than focusing primarily on technical aspects like image quality.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression between ideas is often disjointed. While there is an attempt to use cohesive devices, they are frequently used incorrectly or in a repetitive manner, such as the repeated use of 'According to my opinion'. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the transition between the two viewpoints is abrupt. The paragraphing is present but does not always effectively group related ideas, leading to a somewhat fragmented flow. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. There is a reliance on simple, repetitive phrasing such as 'good view and pixels' and 'worthy people'. Some word choices are unnatural or inaccurate, such as 'missing data from the drama' or 'spoiler from the binge watching'. To achieve a higher score, you should aim to incorporate a wider range of topic-specific vocabulary related to the film industry and cultural impact, and work on using collocations more accurately to convey your ideas with greater sophistication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'some people says', 'people still thinks'), incorrect article usage, and awkward phrasing. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to distract the reader. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and sentence construction before attempting more complex structures. Proofreading for common slips like pluralization and verb tense consistency will also help.
