Student answer (Band 5.0)
It is widely debated whether, cinemas and theatres are still important for economy and cultural aspects or they are no more important as people can watch every entertainment online.
Overall, both views are right at some extant, but in my view, cinema and theatre are no longer important because of the technology shift. Almost everyone have their own mobile phones and laptops so they do not need to go to the specific place to watch a movie, sports or other entertainment shows. So they are no longer important economically and culturally. In growing advancements we already left these things behind and chasing the new trends which the world demands.
Also, the today's people are more busier than the past people, they work all day long and do not have extra times to go for cinemas and theatre to watch a performance and movie. So they prefer to watch it on their laptops and mobile phones which saves their energy by not traveling to other places after coming back to their homes and also save their times by not standing in long ques in ticket sections. So these are some of the main things that i consider, take part in the opinion that these traditional places are no longer important for us.
In conclusion, i believe that the growing technology advancements make our life easier in many ways and we are now looking for betterment not for the old traditional entertainment sources by wasting our time and energy, on which we relied earlier.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is limited. While you mention economic and cultural aspects in the introduction, you do not explore them in the body paragraphs, focusing instead almost exclusively on convenience and time-saving. The arguments are somewhat repetitive, and the lack of specific examples (e.g., mentioning a specific cultural impact or economic statistic) prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. To improve, ensure that each viewpoint is supported by distinct, well-developed arguments rather than repeating the same point about mobile phones and busy schedules.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive. For instance, the frequent use of 'So' to start sentences or clauses makes the flow feel simplistic. Additionally, some transitions between ideas are abrupt. To improve, try using a wider variety of linking words and phrases such as 'Furthermore', 'Consequently', 'In contrast', or 'On the other hand' to create a more sophisticated logical progression between your points.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms like 'important', 'things', and 'betterment'. There are also some errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'more busier' (which is grammatically incorrect) and 'standing in long ques' (spelling error: 'queues'). To improve, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and collocations, such as 'technological advancements' instead of 'growing advancements' and 'leisure activities' instead of 'entertainment shows'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'Almost everyone have' (subject-verb agreement), 'the today's people' (incorrect article usage), and 'do not have extra times' (uncountable noun usage). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage in the introduction. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles. Aim to proofread your work to catch these basic errors, which will significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
