Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is limited and repetitive. The arguments regarding the importance of theatres and the preference for home viewing are stated but not supported with sufficient depth or specific examples. The essay lacks a clear structure, with the conclusion appearing at the beginning, which disrupts the logical flow. To improve, you should ensure each paragraph focuses on a distinct point, providing clear explanations and concrete examples to support your claims, rather than repeating the same general statements about 'having fun' or 'making memories'.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks a logical progression of ideas. Placing the conclusion at the beginning is a significant structural error. Paragraphing is present but does not effectively group related ideas; for instance, the discussion on home viewing is fragmented. Cohesive devices are used in a very basic and repetitive manner (e.g., 'In conclusion', 'On the other hand', 'According to my thoughts'). There is also a lack of variety in linking words, and the transition between paragraphs is often abrupt. To improve, focus on using a standard essay structure (Introduction, Body Paragraphs, Conclusion) and employ a wider range of cohesive devices to link sentences and paragraphs more smoothly.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive, relying heavily on basic terms like 'fun', 'good', and 'important'. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'watching online is easy' (instead of 'streaming content'), 'go their' (a persistent spelling error for 'there'), and 'crowed places' (instead of 'crowded'). The range of vocabulary is insufficient to discuss the topic with precision or nuance. To improve, try to learn topic-specific collocations related to entertainment, such as 'cinematic experience', 'cultural significance', or 'digital accessibility', and pay close attention to spelling and word forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede readability. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('theatres and cinemas has become'), incorrect preposition usage ('go their' instead of 'go there'), and errors with articles ('a theatres halls'). Sentence structures are predominantly simple, and there is a lack of complex sentence forms. Punctuation is also inconsistent. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and the correct use of pronouns and prepositions. Additionally, practice combining simple sentences into more complex structures using relative clauses or subordinating conjunctions to demonstrate a wider grammatical range.
