Student answer (Band 5.5)

According to my observation and daily life experience i saw both type of people, one who like to watch any movie or entertainment related content online while lying on his bed or other who say that the real fun is came in watching movies or entertainment related content in theatres and cinemas as it is also good as economically and culturally.Personally according to my opinion the era of theatres and cinemas had gone now in digital age.I give several reasons below to support my answer.

Firstly,in digital age there is no one who go to theatres and cinemas standing in line to buy tickets and then go inside the theatres and find his seat and then wait for the starting of movie or anything he came to watch.Which take a lot of time and in digital age nothing is more important than time.

Secondly,it is more expensive than watching entertainment related content online. As some OTT platforms provide more cheap subscription for full month and unlimited watch in that month but on the other hand if calculate the travel expense and tickets expense the theatres and cinemas take almost same money for one time.

Overall, there is an era or time for everything as the theatres and cinemas are too old for new generation. Now it is the time of online entertainment which is growing very quickly from few years.Theatres and cinemas are good for one in a month but not more than this. Now Cinemas and theatres are no more than a family outing or friends gettogether place for remembering old members.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention economic and cultural aspects in the introduction, these are not fully explored in the body paragraphs, which focus primarily on convenience and cost. The argument that cinemas are 'too old' is a strong personal stance, but it lacks depth in terms of the cultural significance mentioned in the prompt. To improve, ensure that each point is supported with more detailed explanation or specific examples to meet the requirements of a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use basic cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'Overall' to signal the progression of your argument. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of referencing is occasionally unclear (e.g., 'one who like... or other who say'). The transition between ideas could be smoother to create a more cohesive text. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer back to their antecedents would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to express your opinions clearly. However, there is a reliance on repetitive phrasing, such as 'entertainment related content' and 'theatres and cinemas'. The range of vocabulary is somewhat limited, and there are some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'more cheap' instead of 'cheaper' and 'from few years' instead of 'for a few years'. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise synonyms and collocations related to the topic of media and technology.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'i saw both type of people'), missing articles, and incorrect tense usage (e.g., 'the era... had gone now'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing after commas. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of these errors limits the score. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common grammatical slips will help improve your accuracy.
