Student answer (Band 5.0)
Some people argue that in the online age, theatres and cinemas are no longer essential as people can watch all the entertainment they want in online platform. While others argue that theatres and cinema are still important both economically and traditionally.
On the one hand, in this technology era, people feels digital facilities has more positive side because watching through online platform like netflix, amazon prime and hotstar etc make people more convenient and helps to manage time accordingly. People can watch the movie while performing activities and travelling also. As in theatres and cinemas people should watch movie in silence but through online platform we can watch movie in our room comfortably and can make noise in short we can watch movie in whatever condition cause there are no one to feel distrub.
On the other hand, theatres and cinemas are still important because it provide employment opportunities for many people from ticket counter, sweepers to management team so it is important economically. Also, it is our traditional and culture to preserve because it is from our ancestors. As theatres is more expensive than online platform and it take more time to invest in theatres. Also, in cinemas making noise and talking with friends and family is inappropriate so people are preferring online platform.
In conclusion, digital and cinemas both has their own positive aspect but I perfer the online platform because watching entertainment through your comfort zone is one of the most beautiful experiences with noone telling how to behave and enjoying with my friends in a state of ease.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the economic argument regarding employment is mentioned but not fully explained, and the cultural argument is vague. The essay tends to repeat the idea of 'comfort' and 'convenience' rather than exploring the broader cultural significance of cinema. While the position is consistent, the supporting arguments lack depth and specific examples, which limits the score to a 5.5. To improve, ensure that each point is supported by a clear explanation or a concrete example.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand', but they are sometimes used mechanically or incorrectly (e.g., 'While others argue...' at the start of a sentence). Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the transition between ideas within paragraphs could be smoother. The use of linking words is sufficient to guide the reader, but the overall flow is somewhat repetitive, particularly in the conclusion where the arguments are restated without adding new insight.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. There is a reliance on basic terms like 'positive side', 'important', and 'good'. Some word choices are inaccurate, such as 'traditional and culture to preserve' instead of 'cultural heritage'. There are also minor errors in collocation, such as 'in online platform' instead of 'on online platforms'. To achieve a higher band, you should aim to use more sophisticated vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'cinematic experience', 'socio-economic impact', or 'digital accessibility'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'people feels'), missing articles (e.g., 'in theatres'), and incorrect preposition usage. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and article usage would significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
