Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat inconsistent. While the economic argument is supported by an example, the cultural argument is vague. The conclusion is brief and does not fully synthesize the points discussed. The position is clear, but the explanation of why online viewing is superior is underdeveloped, relying on simple assertions rather than detailed reasoning. To improve, ensure that each body paragraph provides a balanced, well-reasoned explanation that directly supports the thesis statement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow is occasionally disrupted by awkward transitions and sentence structure. While cohesive devices like 'furthermore' and 'however' are used, they are sometimes placed incorrectly or used in a way that feels mechanical. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the transition between the economic benefits and the personal preference for home viewing. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs could be more cohesive to ensure a smoother progression of ideas throughout the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several instances of awkward word choices, such as 'visualized at home' instead of 'viewed' or 'streamed', and 'basic essentials' which is redundant. The phrase 'a exclusively beneficial role' contains a grammatical error in article usage. While the student attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'economy' and 'technological era', the range is limited, and some expressions are repetitive or unnatural. Expanding the range of collocations and synonyms would help elevate the score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that occasionally impede readability. Examples include 'As far as i am concerned that people should go' (incorrect structure), 'visualizing the theaters shall brings' (subject-verb agreement error), and 'Technologies has provided' (plural/singular mismatch). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of periods where commas would be more appropriate. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band score.
