Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 166 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While the essay attempts to address both views, the discussion is incomplete, and the conclusion is entirely missing. The argument is cut off mid-sentence, meaning the student fails to present their own opinion as requested by the prompt. Consequently, the task is only partially addressed, and the development of ideas is severely limited by the lack of length and depth.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay shows some attempt at logical organization by using transition signals like 'On the one hand' and 'Additionally'. However, the progression of ideas is interrupted by the abrupt ending of the text. Paragraphing is present, but the lack of a conclusion and the incomplete final sentence hinder the overall flow. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the mechanical nature of the cohesive devices limits the coherence of the piece. The text feels like a fragmented draft rather than a fully developed essay.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary range is limited and repetitive. There are several errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'convinence and comfortable' instead of 'convenience and comfort', and 'skaduals' (spelling error for 'schedules'). The student struggles to use precise terminology, relying on basic phrasing. While the meaning is generally understandable, the lack of variety and the presence of spelling errors like 'now days' and 'bests' prevent the response from reaching a higher band. More sophisticated vocabulary related to the topic of media and economics is needed.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The grammar is characterized by frequent errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'Use of technology has been increased now days', 'everyone can not effort', and 'students has preferred'. There is a lack of control over basic verb tenses, subject-verb agreement, and sentence structure. The student attempts some complex sentence structures, but these are often faulty. Punctuation is also inconsistent. The high frequency of grammatical errors throughout the short text indicates a lack of control over basic sentence construction.
