Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The essay addresses both viewpoints and provides an opinion, fulfilling the basic requirements of the prompt. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention economic and cultural importance, the arguments lack depth and specific examples are brief. For instance, the mention of 'Ramayana and Mahabharat' is a good start, but it is not fully linked to the broader cultural significance of cinemas. Additionally, your conclusion is slightly contradictory; you argue that cinemas are 'more convenient' because they provide employment, which is a logical leap that weakens the overall position. To improve, ensure your supporting points directly relate to your thesis and provide more detailed explanations for each argument.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use basic cohesive devices like 'On the one hand' and 'In addition' to signal transitions. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where referencing is unclear, such as the use of 'it' to refer to plural nouns (e.g., 'cinemas and theatres... it represented'). The logical progression within paragraphs could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer back to their intended antecedents. Paragraphing is present, but the internal cohesion needs more refinement to achieve a higher band.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'streaming platform', 'economically', and 'culturally'. However, there are frequent errors in word form and collocation, such as 'dive information' (likely meant 'provide information') and 'to their intreast' (interest). There is also a lack of variety in your word choices, with repetitive use of 'programs' and 'cinemas'. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise vocabulary and ensuring correct word forms, as well as incorporating less common lexical items to demonstrate a wider range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'other argue', 'both view have'), incorrect pluralisation (e.g., 'all kind of'), and missing articles. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage in lists. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to distract the reader. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, before attempting more complex structures.
