In the digital age, people have access a vast range of entertainment through streaming platforms, social media and other online platforms. While other argue that it makes cinemas and theatres unnecessary. Other believe that these institutions are crucial both economically and culturally. This essay will evalluate both viewpoints before showing my final though.
On the one hand, it is understandable why some people think cinemas and theatres are less important. This is because, many online platforms offer huge entertainment to the people without paying for it and it is convenient and easy to access all kind of entertainment programs, movies, concerts, series, and other programs. For instance, online platforms such as, Netflix, Prime, and Mx Player these kind platforms offer so many kind of programs that entertain individual. In addition it allows viewers to choose programs to their intrast.
On the other hand, others argue that cinemas and theatres are important for not only economically but also culturally because it represent our culture such as, many movies and series those related to Ramayana and Mahabharat that gives information to the children. It makes employment in area such as, people who work in cinemas, directors, and producers. It also give work to the actors and actress. Hence, many people live based on theatres.
In conclusion, although both views have own merits. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both viewpoints and provides a personal opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the prompt. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the economic argument regarding employment is mentioned but not fully explained or supported with robust reasoning. The conclusion is slightly contradictory; you state that cinemas are important for employment, but then suggest that people prefer online platforms for convenience. This lack of clarity in your final position prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. To improve, ensure that your arguments are logically consistent and that your personal opinion is clearly articulated and supported throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand' and 'In addition' to link ideas. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where referencing is unclear, such as 'these kind platforms' or 'many people live based on theatres'. The progression of ideas within paragraphs could be smoother; some sentences feel like a list of points rather than a cohesive argument. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer back to their antecedents would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is generally adequate to convey your meaning, but it lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on repetitive phrasing, such as 'online platforms' and 'entertainment', and there are several word-choice errors, such as 'evalluate' (spelling), 'intrast' (interest), and 'actress' (should be plural 'actresses'). The use of 'these kind platforms' is grammatically awkward. To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'digital transformation', 'cultural preservation', or 'economic viability', and pay closer attention to word forms and spelling.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'others argue that it makes cinemas... unnecessary. Other believe'), missing articles, and incorrect pluralization (e.g., 'many online platforms offer huge entertainment to the people'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors suggests a lack of control over complex structures. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would significantly improve your accuracy.
