Student answer (Band 6.0)

In recent world where digitalization takes place of everything, some people believe that they can watch entertainment online, whereas others prefer watching films in theatres and cinemas, which can benefit society as a whole..I will discuss both views in this task and will share my opinion.

Watching movies online can save time and energy and people can watch it at their place with full comfort, On the other side theatres and cinemas have big screens which can enhance the quality of watching experience and creates employment opportunities for people who work in theatre.

Watching movies at online at home can save time and energy of many people like to reach to cinema may require time to commute to that place which requires energy like fuel, so by watching moving at home people can save their time and energy. Furthermore, they can feel comfort of their home because some people do not like to socialize with different people so it is beneficial for them who just want to sit at their home in their comfort zone.

On the other side, people who love to watch entertainment stuff in theatres and cinema can experience high quality of cinema experience as video and audio will be there on higher screen with perfect sound which can enhance the overall experience. Other than this people who visit theatres are paying their money for services which is why they are serving their economy by creating more jobs for the people who work in theatre and cinema.

In my opinion watching entertainment stuff in theatre and cinema will bring more joy to us if we watch it at home, but when individual go out and pay for the services they are giving benefit to economy as whole so watching moving in cinema is much more good option.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention economic benefits and the quality of the viewing experience, the arguments remain quite general. For instance, the point about 'creating employment' is a good start but lacks specific detail or examples to fully support the claim. To reach a higher band, ensure that each paragraph provides a more in-depth exploration of the reasons provided rather than repeating the same points about 'time and energy' or 'comfort'. Your position is clear throughout, which is a strength.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'On the other side', and 'In my opinion'. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. For example, the sentence 'Watching movies at online at home can save time and energy of many people like to reach to cinema...' is somewhat clunky and repetitive. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that referencing (e.g., 'that place') is precise will help improve the overall cohesion of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the range and precision required for a higher band. You rely on basic phrasing such as 'entertainment stuff', 'watching moving', and 'much more good option'. There are also some issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'digitalization takes place of everything' (should be 'replaces') and 'serving their economy' (should be 'contributing to the economy'). To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to the film industry, economics, and digital media, and focus on using words in their correct context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Common issues include incorrect preposition usage ('at online'), subject-verb agreement, and awkward phrasing ('when individual go out'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas and periods. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading your work to catch basic errors in tense and article usage, and try to vary your sentence structure with more complex, error-free clauses.
