Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is often argued whether theatres and cinemas are less important as a source of entertainment because people can watch cinema from online. While some people debate that cinemas and theatres not only important for culture but also it has economic benefits, others contend that cinemas can be watch online so halls are not important. This essay will discuss both perspectives before explaining why I believe cinemas and theatres have significant role for culture and economy.
On the one hand, supporters of theatres and cinemas argue that this places have cultural value. As cinema halls was operating from early 19s, so people from different countries are culturally attached to it. For example, in Bangladesh Shilpa Kola Academic has a hall inside it, which had been operating since birth of Bangladesh. Furthermore, a cinema hall named Modumita Cinema Hall operating it's business for more than 5 decades . As a result, physical halls and theatres plays an important role.
On the other hand, proponents of online entertainment claim that people can watch movies or drama from any places. They believe, as people can watch anything more any where so there is no importance of theatres and cinemas. While this argument has some merit, I firmly believe watching everything online doesn't support the purpose of cinema hall and theatres because these halls are meant to be watch together and share the culture.
In conclusion, although getting entertainment online offers certain flexibility but cinemas and theatres have far more advantages both economically and culturally because they hold the culture and runs business all around the world.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention cultural and economic importance, the arguments are not fully extended. For instance, the examples provided regarding specific cinema halls in Bangladesh are relevant but could be better integrated to explain the broader economic impact. The conclusion is a bit repetitive and lacks a summary of the main points discussed. To reach a higher band, ensure that each body paragraph provides a deeper analysis of the 'why' and 'how' behind your arguments rather than just stating them.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand,' 'On the other hand,' and 'Furthermore.' However, some transitions feel mechanical, and there are instances where referencing is slightly unclear, such as 'this places' (should be 'these places') and 'it has economic benefits' (where 'it' lacks a clear singular antecedent). The flow between sentences is generally adequate, but more varied linking words would improve the overall cohesion and make the argument feel more sophisticated.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are some awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'watch cinema from online' instead of 'watch films online' and 'operating it's business' (incorrect use of apostrophe). You rely on basic vocabulary like 'important' and 'things' repeatedly. To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to the film industry, such as 'cinematic experience,' 'cultural heritage,' or 'digital streaming platforms,' and ensure you are using words in their correct grammatical form.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the reader. Examples include 'cinemas and theatres not only important' (missing verb), 'cinema halls was operating' (subject-verb agreement error), and 'meant to be watch' (incorrect passive voice). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with apostrophes and comma usage. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring consistent verb tenses.
