Student answer (Band 5.5)

There is ongoing debate regarding value of theaters and cinemas. A group of peoples claim that in the growing technological era the value for theaters and cinemas decreases because all the entertainment are available online and can be watch anytime anywhere. While other argued that theaters and cinemas are still crucial in dual ways for economically and culturally. Both the views and my opinion is elaborated further with reasons and examples.

On the one hand crowd argued that entertainment venues have no significant values. In the modern digital age theaters and cinemas are less important as people can get all the entertainment in just one click. Which is true to some extent In this modern world people have busy schedule they are not able to get time to go and watch movies in theaters or cinemas they prefer to watch at home as per their preference time. And their are several more advantages they can choose their comfort zone at home there is no need to stand in line for tickets along with tax reduction is also considered to be beneficial. As an this entertainment venues their is high level of tax included. For example a recent released thriller movie gain more views in online platform as compare to this entertainment venues.

In contrast their are other group they argued that even in the modern era the theaters and cinemas are still important. This can be say that because it plays a major role economically and culturally. In cinemas we can watch movies an a big screen and great audio quality. moreover in theaters because of us artist get chance to show their talent live Which help them economically also. For example people watching together is a kind of social gathering.

In conclusion and my opinion i believe theatres and cinemas are still important as they give chance to others to show their talent and this improve social gathering.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the task. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the argument regarding economic benefits is mentioned but not clearly explained, and the example provided about a 'recent released thriller movie' is vague. The position is clear, but the supporting arguments lack depth and specific evidence. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with more detailed explanations and concrete examples that clearly link to the economic and cultural importance of these venues.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'Which is true to some extent In this modern world' show poor sentence boundary control and awkward transitions. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the phrase 'As an this entertainment venues their is high level of tax', where the connection to the previous sentence is weak. While there is an overall progression, the flow is frequently interrupted by these issues with linking and punctuation.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'a group of peoples' (should be 'people'), 'as per their preference time' (should be 'at their preferred time'), and 'gain more views' (should be 'gained more views'). The range is limited, and the repetition of basic terms like 'entertainment venues' and 'important' suggests a need for a wider repertoire of synonyms and more sophisticated phrasing to express complex ideas effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('all the entertainment are available'), incorrect article usage, and persistent punctuation errors, such as starting sentences with 'Which' or 'And'. Additionally, there are spelling errors like 'theaters' vs 'theatres' (inconsistent usage) and 'their' used instead of 'there'. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the high frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band score.
