Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both views regarding the importance of theatres and cinemas in the digital age. However, the development of ideas is inconsistent. While you touch upon the benefits of cinemas (3D, big screens) and the cultural value of theatre, the discussion on the opposing view is somewhat tangential, focusing on general technology like 'scanner pens' and 'google maps' rather than specifically addressing why digital entertainment might render cinemas obsolete. Furthermore, your own opinion is not clearly stated or integrated into the conclusion, which ends abruptly and incompletely. To improve, ensure each paragraph directly supports the prompt and provide a clear, cohesive personal stance throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is often disjointed. Transitions between sentences are sometimes mechanical or missing, such as the abrupt shift in the final paragraph. The use of cohesive devices is limited, and some referencing is unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow your argument. For instance, the transition from discussing theatre to discussing general digital gadgets lacks a logical bridge. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'conversely', 'consequently') and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that connects back to the main prompt.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for basic communication but lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and incorrect word choices, such as 'in their way of extinct' instead of 'becoming extinct' and 'pre developed concepts'. You rely on simple vocabulary and struggle with collocations. To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to media, culture, and economics. Additionally, pay attention to word forms; for example, 'consumers are gradually decreases' should be 'consumers are gradually decreasing'. Expanding your range of synonyms will help you express your ideas more naturally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'technology play vital role'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are simple or contain errors in complex construction, such as 'Advancement make it more powerful than previous era.' Punctuation is also inconsistent, and the final sentence is incomplete. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence structures before attempting complex ones. Proofreading for common errors like missing articles ('the' theatres) and verb tense consistency will significantly improve the clarity and accuracy of your writing.
