In this contemporary era, entertainment has become a topic of considerable debate. Some people believe that the place of theatres and cinemas overtake by the online entertainment platforms, they would watch all type of series, movies and serials over internet. While other believe that theatres and cinema halls plays a crucial role for both economic and culture development. This essay discusses the both viewpoint before presenting a valid prospective.

Commencing with the viewpoint of multitude of the people why they believe that traditional entertainment platforms are no longer important. The first and foremost reason is that online entertainment is convenient. To put it more simply, the plethora of online application are introduced on internet, which helps individuals to watch numerous range of movies and series at home. Besides this, the timings are flexible as streaming platforms provide entertainment 24/7. For example, whenever a person wants to explore new movie or refresh their mind, just search and enjoy it on their phones, laptop or smart TVs. Apart from this, online streaming platforms have great variety of choices and cheaper as well. In other words, one subscription can provide thousands of movie at home.

On the other hand, theatres and cinemas are still important because it is a socializing activities. To elaborate it, mostly individuals visit cinema for spending quality time with their friends and loved one. Theatres have great experience as of its big screen and sound management, which cannot beat by online streaming at home. Moreover, it helps in economic boost, for cinema gives employment to actor, directors, videographer and theatre workers like cleaner and other staff.

In my opinion, both online and offline entertainment play different role on different occasion, if a person wants to vibe along then online streaming applications are the best. For socializing or good adventure visiting cinemas would be an effective way.

In conclusion, although online entertainment has made watching movies much more convenient, I believe cinemas remain important because they provide a unique social and cultural experience and contribute to the economy.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the convenience of streaming versus the social and economic benefits of cinemas. However, some points are slightly under-developed; for instance, the economic argument could be strengthened with more specific detail on how cinemas contribute to local economies beyond just employment. The position is consistent throughout the essay, and the conclusion effectively synthesizes the arguments presented. To reach a higher band, ensure that each supporting point is fully explored with more depth and specific examples.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different viewpoints. Cohesive devices are present, such as 'Commencing with', 'Besides this', and 'On the other hand', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing and flow, such as the phrase 'discusses the both viewpoint' in the introduction. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the connection between sentences could be smoother to achieve a more natural, sophisticated flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task, covering topics like 'contemporary era', 'streaming platforms', and 'economic boost'. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, but these are occasionally used with slight inaccuracies, such as 'vibe along' or 'valid prospective' (likely meaning 'perspective'). Collocations are generally understandable, though some phrasing is slightly unnatural, such as 'the place of theatres and cinemas overtake by'. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey meaning clearly, it lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('theatres and cinema halls plays', 'one subscription can provide thousands of movie') and passive voice errors ('cannot beat by online streaming'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some run-on sentences and minor errors in article usage. While these errors do not impede overall communication, they indicate a need for more consistent control over complex grammatical structures to reach a higher band.
