Student answer (Band 5.5)

There is an ongoing debate on the importance of cinema in todays developed generation. Although, the increasing use of internet has affected on the popularity of cinema as people opt to watch movies at home. I believe that the demands of theaters are still at its place as it aids to spend a little time with close ones through the distraction from the internet. However, cinemas are far more important than the internet as it maintains the culture.

The prominent cause of this consequence is that nowadays individuals choose to enjoy movie time at home through the internet owing to their hectic schedules of the day. For instance, 30% of people tend to entertain themselves at home via few apps such as Netflix because they don't want to get ready for the outer enjoyment. The internet is replacing few things but the demand of cinema for people is still in demand.

Another prior consideration for this phenomenon could definitely the importance of culture. The cinemas are really carrying the culture from the ancient days where individuals can truly be close to the people they are loving, and they feel closeness to rituals because it feels connected closely. To exemplify, my uncle spent his half of the teenager to studying about theaters and now he is guides a lot of students to choose career related this which can aid to provide information of culture to the upcoming generation.

To conclude, though internet can replace the cinema. I firmly believe that theaters contain the culture which plays significant role in human's life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. The argument regarding the 'economic' importance mentioned in the prompt is largely ignored, and the explanation of 'cultural' importance is vague and lacks logical depth. For instance, the example about the uncle is anecdotal and does not effectively support the broader claim about the cultural significance of cinemas. To reach a higher band, you should provide more substantial, analytical arguments that directly address all parts of the prompt, ensuring that your examples are relevant and clearly linked to your main points.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is sometimes disjointed. While you use some cohesive devices like 'For instance' and 'To conclude', others are used incorrectly or awkwardly, such as 'Another prior consideration for this phenomenon could definitely the importance of culture', which lacks a verb. The referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the logical flow. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, unified topic sentence would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice, such as 'todays developed generation', 'outer enjoyment', and 'he is guides a lot of students'. These errors occasionally make the meaning slightly opaque. To improve, focus on learning collocations and using more sophisticated vocabulary in context. Avoid repetitive phrasing and strive for more natural, academic expressions to convey your ideas more effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. Issues include missing articles (e.g., 'the internet'), incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'he is guides'), and awkward sentence construction (e.g., 'the demand of cinema for people is still in demand'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct article usage, and proofreading for basic sentence structure errors. Increasing the variety of error-free complex sentences will help you achieve a higher score.
