Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the economic argument for cinemas is mentioned but not fully explained, and the cultural argument is slightly repetitive. The position is clear, but the conclusion is a bit contradictory, as it suggests people have no time for cinemas while simultaneously acknowledging their value. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific examples or deeper analysis of how cinemas contribute to the economy or culture, rather than just stating that they do.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'Moreover', and 'To sum up' are used to guide the reader. However, there are instances where the flow is slightly mechanical, and some sentences are disjointed due to grammatical errors. Referencing is generally clear, but the transition between the two main body paragraphs and the conclusion could be smoother. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the internal structure of the sentences needs more variety to improve the overall flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task, but there are several spelling errors ('nemorous', 'cuturally', 'convience', 'entertaintment') and some awkward collocations ('watching cinemas' instead of 'watching films'). While you attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'online platforms' and 'leisure time', the lack of precision and the recurring spelling mistakes limit the score. To improve, focus on learning the correct spelling of common academic words and pay closer attention to how words are paired together in natural English.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('it can brings poeple', 'it can helps to eliminate') and missing articles or incorrect word forms ('no enough leisure time'). While the meaning is generally understandable, these persistent errors in basic grammar prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. You should focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and ensuring that your sentence structures are grammatically sound.
