Student answer (Band 5.5)
With the advancement in the technology and many modern wats are being introduced to the people from which we can easily access to entertainment online which was suppose to be watched in the theatre.
We don't need to travel to the cinemas and theatres and stand in a que for the tickets and then watch movie because we can easily watch it online by staying at our house .
Meanwhile, this thing is somehow killing the vibe and experience of watching a movie in the theatre . people has gradually moved to online platforms for entertainment and this thing is effecting the cinemas and theatres both economically and culturally.
In my perspective, people switching to online platforms has effected the cinemas economically as their tickets sales has fallen gradually. The main source of income for cinemas halls and theatre is their ticket sales and if people wont go to watch movies in theatre then their tickets wont sells and it will make it difficult for them to stay economically stable and eventually a time will come when they have to shut the theatres down.
It also effects us culturally and cinemas and theatres are important to keep our traditions and culture alive as in the past times there were no online platforms and people use to go to cinemas and watch movies and cultural dramas and traditional plays.
So it is important that we keep our cinemas and theatres alive because they are one of the reason which keeps our tradition alive.
For example, Netflix has taken over the cinema and theatre industry in such a short time. It provides audience to watch movies online in just one click and people really prefer watching movies on Netflix rather than going to the cinemas.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention economic and cultural impacts, the arguments are repetitive and lack depth. For instance, the point about cinemas closing is mentioned multiple times without expanding on the broader societal implications. To improve, ensure each paragraph introduces a distinct, well-supported point rather than restating the same concept. The conclusion is also quite brief and does not fully synthesize the arguments presented in the body paragraphs.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is quite mechanical and repetitive. Phrases like 'In my perspective' and 'Meanwhile, this thing is' are used in a way that feels unnatural. There is a lack of sophisticated linking words to connect ideas between sentences and paragraphs. The progression of ideas is sometimes hindered by the repetitive nature of the arguments, making the flow feel disjointed at times. Improving the variety of transition signals would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for a higher band. You rely on basic, repetitive terms such as 'movies', 'theatres', and 'cinemas'. There are also some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'many modern wats' (likely meant 'ways') and 'effecting' (should be 'affecting'). To achieve a higher score, you should aim to use more precise, academic vocabulary and demonstrate a better grasp of collocations. Avoid informal phrasing like 'killing the vibe' and 'in just one click'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('people has', 'tickets wont sells'), incorrect verb forms ('was suppose to be'), and punctuation errors. The sentence construction is often simplistic, and the misuse of articles and prepositions is noticeable throughout. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence patterns and proofreading for common errors like subject-verb agreement and tense consistency. Increasing the variety of complex structures while maintaining accuracy is essential for a higher band.
