Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is inconsistent. While the economic argument is supported with examples like job roles and local businesses, the cultural argument is somewhat disjointed, and the personal opinion in the conclusion is underdeveloped. The essay maintains a clear position, but the depth of analysis is limited by frequent linguistic errors that occasionally obscure the intended meaning. To reach a higher band, you should focus on expanding your arguments with more coherent explanations rather than listing items.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Firstly,' 'Secondly,' and 'In conclusion,' but they are sometimes used mechanically or incorrectly (e.g., 'As a results'). Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'These are can not replaced our online platforms,' where the antecedent is ambiguous. While the progression of ideas is generally discernible, the flow is frequently interrupted by awkward phrasing and grammatical errors, which makes the text feel somewhat disjointed at times.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There is a reliance on basic terms like 'fun,' 'programs,' and 'things.' You attempt to use more complex vocabulary, such as 'economic contribution' and 'cultural identity,' but these are often used in grammatically incorrect collocations (e.g., 'vital role play'). There are also several instances of word-form errors, such as 'convince' instead of 'convenient' and 'realise' instead of 'release.' The range is sufficient to convey the main message, but the frequent errors in word choice prevent a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Many individual assert'), article usage, and sentence construction (e.g., 'These are are very essential to economically support'). Punctuation is also problematic, with several sentence fragments and run-on sentences. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of grammatical errors requires the reader to make an effort to understand the intended message, which is a characteristic of the Band 5 level.
